The No Load Tone pot makes the bridge waaay too bright sometimes. I often open it up for cleans in the 4 pos. and roll it back to 7 if I actually use the bridge.

In short, no.

Well this thread just goes to show we all have different tastes--in music that is a good thing--I'm glad we don't all play the same guitars the same way with the same sound, etc.

But it's fun to see how we are different as well.

That may be true, depending on the amp and effects (and their respective settings) you use.

However, I eq my main amp (which is a '63 reissue Vibroverb--brown Tolex and 2x10 speakers) to have a full, rich sound no matter what pickup I'm using...it is fitted with a “tapped” treble circuit, meaning that the treble control is “flat” at setting “5”; cutting or boosting the treble was possible by turning the knob down (below “5”) or up (above “5”), respectively, so I can get deep without getting muddy or get bright without getting shrill.

I also make sure my effects pedals don't make anything too bright or shrill--I want (and get) a big, fat and rich sound (a la SRV or Billy Gibbons) no matter where the pickup selector is set, and the No-Load tone pot helps me do that; the pure pickup-directly-into-the-effect & amp sound is really a nice variation, especially to cut through the mix in a muddy/boomy room.

I have one of my teles wired for independent volumes and no tone control, which is fun.
