When I first bought my MIM stratocaster, the bridge would lift when I tuned the guitar to pitch. After searching the net for advice, I adjusted the two "claw" screws in the back and everything has been fine. Now I want to try moving from .009 gauge strings to .010 strings. I was thinking of adding a spring this time to counteract the pull of the heavier gauge strings.

If I add a spring and end up "backing" the claw screws out a little, am I going to have problems?

I doubt you'd need a fourth spring when changing to a one-gauge lighter string set. A minor re-adjustment of the claw may be the only necessity.

You might want to check your intonation.
