:( I recently purchased the Fender Modern Player Mustang. It has everything to be a real game changer; but then there's the vibrato bar. The hideous thing hasn't changed in 50 years. The guitar will not stay in tune. I'm at the point where I will take it back for a refund while I still can.

I can't play it in public.

It seems that I read on one of the forums a few years ago that if you changed the bridge out with like a Jazzmaster or Jaguar bridge it would stay in tune; but I have found nothing recently to substantiate that rumor.

Can anyone offer any solid clues for a fix including the Fender experts?

Merry Christmas and thanks,

Dan

I've never had problems with the vibrato on my Mustang--although it's not a Modern Player one--so I can't comment directly on that one, but mine works fine.

I understand that not every thing is for everybody, and you certainly can't divebomb on it, but the Mustang vibrato is my favourite.

I certainly wouldn't call it hideous.

But if it doesn't suit your playing, it doesn't suit it.
It suits mine just fine.
