Hello all. I'm usually a Les Paul guy, but I've owned a few Tele's in my time. This was given to me by my father a while back, as he had no use for it. Apparently was gigged very heavily before my time back in the 70's. Will need a new nut, and wouldn't hurt to have the electronics gone through. I'm in a tight spot for cash, and figured asking here might get me the best results for trying to find out a value for this thing before I go and post it for sale.

Value on the market would be 0 and that is generous in reality keeping it especially for memories/history is priceless.

Right now I'd pay just to see it cleaned up a bit.

Who did the number on the finish?

That looks like a well-used, well-loved instrument.

Approximate value is difficult to determine, because although it is (possibly) a historical/vintage instrument, the wear & tear is going to knock a lot off of the top end.

If it were just beat up/road worn/naturally relic'd (like the back of the neck), it would be devalued as much, but with the finish just totally GONE, it's gonna take a hit.

I don't know as much about the Jaguars/Jazzmasters/etc., undoubtedly someone can help you out here.

Welcome to the Forum, by the way...

Well loved? It looks neglected to me.

That body condition I would not touch it! That thing has been sanded down.

After some research, a decent price for a 61 Jazzmaster in good condition, all parts original, would be around $4K. A refinish would bring it down to $2K.
In this condition...

+1

It sure looks like someone didn't have a clue as to how Fender's vintage split-post tuners work.

Really is a shame someone destroyed the finish or it would be worth some serious bucks. Personally, I stay away from refinished or "no finish" guitars all together.
