I just got a '65 American Vintage Jazzmaster in Olympic White . I'm wondering if the new "Flash-Coat" finish is more delicate than what was typically used on the AVRI series?

My guitar was shipped to me and looks pretty case fresh, but there definitely appears to be some buffing marks (not just swirls) and a few light scratches. Granted, you only see this stuff when you look really close, but I'd really like to know how typical this is (especially on a $2,300 guitar).

Thanks, Guys :)

Whew. For a second there, I was afraid this was gonna be about resonance and "breathing".

Hey, I dont know. Never heard of flash coating. Is that a preferred process, or a way to go around EPA rules and limits?

Fender says it's about what your WHEW is referencing too. It is a quick thin spay coat.

As much as the EPA goes out of it's way to screw with American business I would think it's more like a talking point for sales. Need change to keep things fresh so sales can press reasons for purchase of new, different make up. Kind of like when car models get a face lift.
