I have this Les Paul-ish kit that I built a while ago (way before I should have) that I started to modify just to keep it from collecting more dust. However, the truss rod has serious bow in it that I have been patiently trying to remove over the past couple of days. I made adjustments and waited a day (or a bit less, about 10-18hrs sometimes) but the bow is still mostly there. I have noticed though that when I turn it to release bow there is a lot less resistance felt than when turning it for relief. Also, Adjustments seem to have little effect on the neck.

Should I just give this time or might I have jacked it up way back when? Also, this whole kit was fairly inexpensive so I would probably pitch it and get a better quality build (maybe another stratomacaster) rather than spend over $100 on the neck.

If it has a lot of bow you are going to have to turn the nut a lot. Give it a few more turns until you start to feel resistance and then adjust slightly until you get a flat neck. The reason you have more resistance adding bow than taking it is because the rod is close to maxed out going that way.

Thanks man, That was a lot easier than I thought. I just didn't want to do that at first because of the stories I read of cracks going the whole way down the neck from over tightening.

Standard truss rod adjust necks with to much relief. You have to have a Bi flex truss rod to be able to generate force to adjust concave and convex curve in a neck because it generates forces in both directions.
