Merry Clayton talks about recording that solo in the documentary "20 Feet From Stardom". Apparently, the idea to record that background vocal was hatched late in the evening. They got Ms. Clayton at home where she was wearing hair curlers and a bathrobe. She belted out that take with almost no warm up. They told her what to sing and she wondered what they were thinking... "Rape, Murder,... It's just a shot away!"

I feel like I just went to a revival meeting.
My feet ten feet off the Beal.
Amen, sister….

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
