Happy 71st Birthday to the man who showed me how and where to find the conduit that connected my soul to my fingers.Although John and George inspired me to become a musician in 1964,it was when I first heard the music of Jimi Hendrix that I really got seriously obsessed with guitar and vowed to become the best that I could possibly become. After I heard the "Are You Experienced" album for the first time I realized the true potential of the guitar and that it had a huge potential for making sounds that were out of this world.I started practising for upwards to 10 hours a day and sometimes even more.I painstakingly deconstructed and analyzed just about each and every one of his songs to try and decipher just exactly how he created some of his remarkable tones and sounds.I was successful in finding a lot of them but some still elude me to this day. Before anyone decides to call me a copy cat etc.,that is one thing that I am definitely not. Even though I love Jimi's music and that it really makes a connection with me like no other music ever did,I took on trying to emulate and cover his songs and difficult sound effects as a personal challenge, the same way a violinist may take on Paganini's 24 Caprices as a challenge because doing so would certainly elevate their status among their peers since having the technical skills and prowess to successfully play these pieces would demonstrate that they had reached an extremely high level of virtuosity.

Happy Birthday Jimi.....Sing on Brother...

Re Clapton is God: Eric Clapton has never been too shy to admit to the fact that he stood in awe of Jimi and as a matter of fact when he had seen his first left hand Strat he bought it to give to Jimi at the club Jimi was playing in.That night, not knowing that E.C. was in the audience Jimi took off through a back door right after his set to attend a party-that was the last time that Eric saw Jimi and never got to gift him the lefty Strat and that tore him up.
