I heard about Michael Thurber a couple months back. When he sits there with that fretless semi-acoustic, you see how great he really is. I'm sure many bassists could memorize all that stuff in a row like that, but he probably just read it all once on sheet music. He went deep with the song selection, too.

Great video with a cool looking white Fender Jazz. I could do without the theater vids, though.

Does it show other videos? Maybe a settings tweak?

Glad to see some feedback from actual bass players and your website is a plethora of knowledge!

I have to retract my above statement just a bit, after watching more of the cdza youtube vids. From what I've seen, they aren't authentic at all with the songs they play. The notes are there, but the feel is missing. The approached musical settings they create are generic.

The deer in headlights stares at the camera..almost like the anti smoking t.v. campaigns, don't help the entertainment value much neither. It was initially cool to see the bass brought up on to the public like that, but...

Regrettably, I'm seeing a lot of live music in which synths are being used by keys players to double. It adds the fourth instrument to a trio, and will eliminate one live performer from any complement of musicians. The quality of the sound is excellent. Sometimes progress is NOT our most important product. :?

Not to be argumentative, but I don't think the math holds up here. If you add a fourth instrument to a trio, you also add a fourth musician. If that musician then eradicates the need for one of the original trio, you still have as many musicians as when you started - three. And if he doesn't, you have four.

Personally, I think an ivory hacker is something most bands should have. But I could be biased because I also play the keys (badly, I'm the first to admit, but still).
