I paid $350 for third row floor seats to see the Stones in Chicago in 2002. It was awesome but I wouldn't pay that today. I saw everything I wanted to see. Any seats would be fine now if the house Pa was up to par.

Instead of dropping hundreds of dollars on some concert tickets, I'd rather spend that money on the group's CDs and concert DVDs. That's an investment that keeps on giving hours of entertainment.

The cut that bands get from CDs can be abysmally low, or often even non-existent.
At least with a gig, they should get some remuneration.

I saw the stones at glastonbury, I wouldn't pay more than £15 to see them, my friend summed it up pretty well when he said it was like watching a decentish cover band.... Also I'm 90% sure they plopped Keith Richards on the stage and said "go!"

As I haven't been to a proper live gig since Iron Maidens 'Brave New World tour in 2000 I'm not entirely positioned to comment. But the Maiden gig I think demonstrates how it is possible to combine elaborate staging with a good show. There's no point in expecting us to pay extra for your fire breathing dragon if the show isn't good...
Equally you would have thought that the 'venue' costs for a tour would be relatively fixed so if you are paying the same price in the same venue for two good shows but one of them has a fire breathing dragon...
I've forgotten what I was talking about...

most of the bands I really like can be seen for less than 20 bucks.

I've seen more good live music for free in the last seven months than many of the bands I paid to see...that's really sad.

What you old folks don't get is that most of the bands you guys would go see aren't new or fresh anymore. They're still going and still have a well established fanbase. Of course those bands aren't gonna be cheap like the old days when they were actually new.

For instance I see lots of gigs advertised in the city nearest to me that cost $10. I don't go to them, cause I'm not 18 yet (damn age restrictions), but most of which are pretty exciting, new bands that have a pretty large underground fanbase.

Of course the rolling stones are gonna be damn expensive. If you expect them to be $15, you've gotta get your head out of the past.

The most I've paid was 120€ for a U2 show (this included a ride to the show, so I didn't have to worry about parking or anything like that). The price without the ride was about 60€ (so yeah, ride was VERY overpriced, but there was no way to buy just the ticket.. Despite 5 of us going together anyway so a car ride would have been much cheaper - not to mention we also needed to take a metro because they changed the location of where they'll park in the last minute - a week or 2 after the concert they said they'd give us 20€ back each, if we showed them the ticket to metro - people were really complaining, but who in the hell keeps a ticket to metro for 2 weeks?). BUT the security there was awesome, we had tickets for normal standings and they had free room in golden ring, we were there very early and wanted to get as close as possible, one of the guys saw it and told the security at golden ring to let us in. Heck they even gave us free water  There were 2 warm-up groups who played good so I guess it wasn't really expensive, the only thing that was expensive was the ride - very expensive.

Otherwise I've payed 100€ on 2 other occasions I believe, included the ride back and forth both times. Without the ride, I probably wouldn't pay more than 60€. MAYBE 80 if the band was really good. Except for Pink Floyd, would've paid even 150€ for them probably, without the ride. For other artists (like The Doors or Rolling Stones or Hendrix or Elvis Presley or Zeppelin) 120€ would be max if I knew I couldn't see them at all after the concert. But that would be for my favourite bands and, as you can see, most of them have at least 1 member that already died so I already know I can't see them live.

im pretty sure the best value gig i had was seeing everclear at portsmouth pyramid centre sometimes when i was still at school Think it cost £8 a ticket and they were supported by two unknown young bands called feeder and muse. seems weird now that nobodys heard of everclear, but at the time they were the big established band!

Wonder how much it would cost to see muse alone now, would have to be some huge stadium gig.

Im quite proud to say i dont think ive ever paid more than about £40 for any single gig... not that i can think of anyway. Ive probably spent more money getting my girlfriend into my own gigs when the doorstaff are paticularly over-eager!

My aunt won tickets to see Matchbox 20 and asked me if I wanted to go...I went, but only because Everclear was one of the openers. Very good show!

and best value for me would have to be the 15 dollars I spent to see my favorite band Local H back in 2011 - i showed up early, heard their soundcheck through the open back door of the club, then saw the band come into the bar I was sitting in while waiting for my friend... and then after the show got to talk to Scott for a minute and buy a cd from him. not to mention it was seriously the best live show i've ever seen...and The Weeks opened! those guys are awesome, too!

Way too expensive concert tickets are. My sister asked me if i wanted to go see Ozzy Osbourne but the cheapest tickets were like £65!!! That was the cheap seats.

I wouldn't pay that kind of money to see anyone really.

I paid $240 for a EC & Stevie Winwood show at the MGM in Vegas. I had very good seats, only a few rows back, center. But that was a special occasion for me and Mrs. T2 since we were celebrating our 28th anniversary. I would not normally pay that kind of money, but it was a one time tour with two guys the were GREAT together. One of the best shows I have ever been to.

If I could manage to see Cream play, I would pay that kind of money again but they would be the only ones I would put up that kind of scratch for.
