Love vinyl records! Most of my first albums were on vinyl.

I don't buy too many these days due to money and space considerations. But the sound quality and durability can't be beat. Best format for album artwork too.

I'm glad it's making a comeback.

.

I love the cover art of the past and how album set would open to more art and band or song info on the inside. Bands did some cool stuff and sometimes freaky to help sell lp's , I remember when I bought Alice Cooper Schools Out and it was like a desk and the the album had a pair of panties as a dust cover. The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers has a fly on pants and one my favorites was Yes album Relayer that cover art is amazing!

I played "One Live Badger" recently. It also has a great Roger Dean cover. The music, meh.

You got good taste orvilleowner, Roger Dean art is amazing. Mystical Worlds bring out thoughts of fantasy.
One of the things missing with advent of Cd's is the thought put into great cover art.

My new turntable is arriving in the next few days, I'm very excited.

I suffer for awful anxiety issues, to the point I've quit all alcohol and caffeine just to try and stay sane. I'm always extremely up tight and listening to my vinyl is pretty much the only respite I get from this. I always set aside now at least an hour a day away from work, any screens, any phones, to just be by myself and listen to music.

It's also the rule at my house if my friends are over that if an album is spinning then it must spin to the end. I'll tolerate a change in music if the majority want it but it isn't going off at least until the end of the side that's playing!

They always end up loving the experience of a proper record too, there still isn't anything quite like getting a few friends over for some drinks (that I now don't partake in), and putting a record on the table.

Then there is the joy of sleeves too...but thats another story.

Same. Although I dont own any records, when listening to music, I pretty much only listen to full albums. And I don't stop listening till the end. It pains me to stop in the middle.

What pains me are women (always, no exception) who drag the tone arm off to stop it.

Just thinking of that tone arm scratch, Ouch!

Yes I have a small number, about 1200 lp's, 90 cassettes, a few 78's and 45's in boxes in my little sisters garage lol. I should look for a turntable one of these days

I have some new old vinyl to report. A couple early Jefferson Starship LPs and 3 from Atlanta Rhythm Section. ARS really deserves a lot more love!

New old vinyl is the best, I got The Best Of Blondie and ZZ Top - Eliminator for 25p each the other day. Sleeves were a little beat but the vinyl itself is perfect.

I've got about 200 LP's on vinyl. Some are still in great shape...would listen to both sides to pick songs I liked best & make a mix cassette and not play the vinyl again until I wore out the tape.

Slowly ripping my collection to digital, in some cases, ripping again as the first time was low quality mp3.

Turntable is the same Kenwood bought in the late 70's, early 80's.

Collecting vinyl records is one of my biggest vices these days. I collect new re-issue and old mint condition records (Albums only). Wish the hell I hadn't sold off my old LPs when the CD fad hit in the 80s. A lot of the Vinyls re-issued now come with an MP3 download too - just to pull in the download crowd - a very clever marketing move by the music industry.
