I have this Nugent LP and many more of his. That one was the return of Derek St.Holmes.

Yesterday I spun some Headpins and Grateful Dead "Europe 72."

How old is your son? I'm 15 and I personally love vinyl records.

Mid 20's now and he likes the old school stuff as well as modern. Often uses quad track reel to reel himself for recording.

Over here in the UK at least vinyl has seen a huge resurgence and bands make way more money from their sales than CD's. They have also finally realised that people will buy more if you include a download code for people to get the album onto their iPods or whatever too.

I only play things now on vinyl or off of my iPod on the move, especially now most car stereos are doing away with CD players and providing AUX in more often.

That was because the record companies and stores collaborated to make sure it did. My dad used to be high up at Tower Records and sat in on one of these meetings, they essentially decided that they were going in the direction of CD knowing full well that they didn't think the sound quality was as good. By collaborating with the big shops the record companies basically made sure CD was a success.

I got a really top quality vinyl player around mid year. Since then I've acquired about 7 vinyls. It's great. There's something about watching them spin around and that you reallistically can't skip songs by the touch of a button, that makes them special.
Better than CD's, but less practical.

CD sales are falling of fast with car s having ability to plug your music in and carry from one to the other.

I will always buy the CD then upload it to my computer.
I do not like buying mp3s, digital books, digital comics or digital movies.
Its all a big rouge. We get nothing but the right to look and listen.
When I buy a CD, DVD, Blu Ray, Book or Comic Book I get something that can be handed down. That can be sold again.
The man just wants to control us because he gets no kickback on secondary market sales. He is already losing sales due to pirates bay and torrents. The record industry was blindsided by the digital realm of music. They were an empire that still cannot regain control.

@ Cvilleira<What a coincidence, it was only yesterday that I mentioned to another Forum member in a PM how Raw Sienna was my favourite Savoy Brown album and how Kim Simmonds was one of my favourite guitarists.
BTW: I still have a cassette tape of 3 of my buddies and I doing a cover of "Is That So?" from the Raw Sienna album. It turned out pretty darn good despite the fact that it was done in a concrete floor and walled basement furnace room in my best buddy's house using just a Pioneer cassette deck and 2 Radio Shack Realistic mics. The other guitarist and I were using identical circa 1965 Hagstrom II guitars and identical Traynor Mk. III combos except for instead of the usual 2-12s the previous owner of his had somehow managed to squeeze an Electro-Voice 15 into it in place of the 2-12s.The resulting blend of guitar tones was perfect, especially when we were playing the same guitar parts,it sounded like one guitar using a really good chorus pedal.

I either buy records or pirate MP3s/lossless, as far as new music is concerned. I basically only buy CDs if I want to do my own lossless rip.

Also, those Crosley players are crap, guys. They'll scratch/wear down your records, and the speakers are pretty bad. AT-LP120 is the way to go.

You pirate? I dont even have words for you sir. I just can't wait for a virus to wipe your entire hard drive.

That was a delightful read in the morning.
With the new Myspace there is no need to illegally download you can stream and listen to what you want.
Then decide what you want to own and go buy it.
Most people who download, the music means nothing to them. They just fill hard drives to say they did.
