Feel the need to clarify something. I don't come out on the Forum to upset the apple cart on anyone's thread(s).

No offense taken here. I can speak from both education and experience that acupuncture CANNOT do EVERYTHING that western medicine can do. I'm trained in pain medicine and am acquainted with the way in which acupunture can be employed in that discipline, as well as others. By virtue of the the fact that the modality involves needling, is it not a non-invasive discipline. I understand well, the concept of its efficacy from the point of view of oriental medicine, and can offer an extrapolation from that to the western understanding of neurophysiology. Other than medicinals, and other forms of therapy such as massage [shiatsu], acupuncture is not the answer for therapies in which surgical intervention is required. It's time was more appropriate to an age in which diagnosis was far more simplistic than today, and the range of possiblities with respect to healing, more limited.

Glad to hear your test went well. Good news also about the treatment for your hands.

Thanks for the supportive comments guys,I see the pain specialist next week and I'm hoping that he will do the cortisone injections then.I asked him if they were painful and he told me no,yet my brother in law had one in each wrist a few months ago and he said that he almost went through the wall from the pain.I'm going to ask him for a general anesthetic if it's going to hurt like hell.He also is thinking about injecting my lumbar spine and S.I. joints to relieve the increase of pain I've been having there in the past few months. For the first time in ages things are appearing to look promising on the health front,I'd say it's about time.

Don't worry about the pain from cortisone injections. Sure, like any injections, they may hurt a little, but not for very long. And then it feels so much better. Be a man!

There are side effects - the most common ones being feeling hot and hungry. And if done too often, it can lead to brittle bones (cortisone induced osteoporosis), and severe cold turkey symptoms when going off it. But the doctors won't overdo it these days.
As for the good effects, well, I'd say typically anything from a few days to a few weeks of relief.

Be careful. We're still hearing about the New England compounding company that botched some methylprednisolone
which (so far) has resulted in 24 deaths and 317 cases or so for
fungal meningitis.

Ditto. Verify that your doctor knows his supplier is reliable and trustworthy.
