It's already a given that there is an issue. If you're having bad feelings about about... DON"T take the test. Seek an alternative. No need to needlessly put YOUR life on the line for a friggin' stress test. Not trying to discourage... If you feel it's in YOUR best interest to take the test... go for it.
All the Best w/ what you decide.

Suggest an alternative....

Acupuncture. It's safe, it works and you take herbal remedies (that WORK... without side effects) as opposed to drugs (side effects and upset the system) ;)

Hemlock and Belladonna are herbal, and both have been used as herbal remedies.

Acupuncture as a therapy to what end? The purpose of exercise stress testing, including sonography, and nuclear imaging is to assess cardiac function under load....particularly the degree of perfusion of the coronary blood supply, ventricular function, and cardiac output. In addition, the assessment and evaluation of other structural deficits in the organ. Prior to initiating therapy, you have to have a diagnosis. Do you expect acupuncture to be the proper approach to a patient who complains of tightness in the midchest, and radiating up the neck bilaterally when walking up a flight of stairs? That was me 17 years ago. An angiogram revealed a better than 90% closure of the left anterior descending coronary artery...better know in the trade as 'the widow maker', for obvious reasons. I had a stent placed to open the vessel, a maneuver no amount of acupunture therapy could have accomplished. Had I chosed that alternative, I'd likely not be writing this presently.
I can speak to the efficacy of acupuncture in certain circumstances, however, when it comes to functional or organic cardiac pathology, I cannot.

+1 just don't over do it

I too have had the experience of two such tests, which lead to determining the need for a stent in my Left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD). That was 3-1/2 years ago enabling me to resume bicycle riding, one of my favorite activities, beside playing guitar. Before that, I would experience chest pain when riding at hard pace. I for one favor this test in aiding in the detection of a potential life threating coronary condition.

Let us know how your test turned out..

Hi folks,I had the stress test and got an all clear,no Atrial Fibrillation either while I was on the treadmill or after I had gotten off.The cardiologist is confidentthat I have no kind of blockages and my blood pressure responded as it should for someone without a compromised cardio system.According to the cardiologist, who is one of the most recognized and respected in Canada and who also trains prospective cardiologists, stress tests are an invaluable tool in detecting any number of anomalies in the cardiovascular system-that's why these sensors are placed in the locations that they use-each sensor monitors a specific function and from the accumulated data they can make a very accurate assessment of one's cardio condition. As for stress tests being useless etc.,Id be more inclined to take the word of a physician who has spent at least 8 years specializing in med school and then who taught in med school and who has a stellar international reputation among his peers, rather than take a blanket statement made by someone with no stated medical qualifications and no evidence backing their claims, as gospel.

I take acupuncture for my chronic baclk pain and the issues that have been plaguing my hands but I would hardly entrust acupuncture as being a cure-all for a cardio-vascular issue. As good a tool as acupuncture can be in treating some medical conditions,I wouldn't depend on it to repair a plaque encrusted aorta or an aneurism.

BTW: I also saw the pain specialist today and he ordered some x-rays on my wrists and hands,he is confident that cortisone injections in my wrists and other parts of my hands, could get my hands back in playing condition and should give me a good chance of getting back to normal with my playing-that's better news than the all clear for the old ticker.

Worrying about the stress test was probably more stressful than the test!

Glad to hear everything worked out.

Happy to hear everything went well.
Feel the need to clarify something. I don't come out on the Forum to upset the apple cart on anyone's thread(s).
If anyone wants to know more about alternatives (like Acupuncture) well, it's on you to research it.
Not going to get into it but, from my own experience, it can do everything the Western Doc's can do and then some... and it does it safely, naturally without the drugs and questionable "tests" that so many Doctors prescribe. With that said...
My apologies if what I posted was taken as "Off Color" or "In-Appropriate". Not the intention.
Since it's come up... don't only play it only the "Interwebs" either. Maximum respect to all the other "Full Timer's" out here. God knows it ain't easy...
Enjoy & Keep Your Mojo Pumped:
