The DVD of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival was released today, along with the soundtrack CD. Whatever you may have seen or heard of this event, whether you attended the theater showing or not, unless you were at the actual concert(s) you should not pre-judge the show. This is an astounding amount of music (two DVDs, five or so hours, forty-five separate tracks) and covers just about every current taste in blues- (and country-) based music, with even a couple of jazz and folk artists thrown in. There is something here for everyone! Forget those pitiful YouTube videos, the real footage is high-def pristine and the sound mix is clear as a bell--I picked up the Blu-ray version.

From the megastars to the little-known or emerging artists, it's so nice to be reminded that these guys--hardly any women to be seen this time around--got into this and remain because they love making music; their genuine enjoyment and delight at being able to get together in one place with their peers is so obvious!

Just got a text from my wife that the Blu-ray just dropped through the letterbox at home and at this very moment I'm downloading the album from iTunes onto my iPhone. I had pre-ordered the DVD over a month ago. Can't wait to get home to play it. :)

Here's a taster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efFo-Clq844

Enjoy!

Thanks for this. I need to get it ordered. I've got the previous two years'. Just never enough time to watch them.

Any idea how much was edited out? I just wonder why they don't put all the performances on video for the benefit of those who could not attend and those who did as well. The juice would certainly be worth the squeeze.

I don't know! I was asleep, of course!!

There is some awesome stuff on there. Haven't watched the whole thing yet. But wow!

A whole new respect for Gary Clarke, Jr. I have heard people rave about him and from what I had seen I just wasn't that impressed. "When my Train Pulls In"! Just "Wow"!

Clapton on "Got to get Better in a Little While"?! Double "Wow"

That was a good one, but if you want to really hear something, check out the version from Derek & The Dominos Live album...if you were wowed by the '13 version, the old live one might just make your head explode!

This festival would be the last for Willie Weeks as a bassist for Clapton as Eric just announced he told Nathan East to rejoin the band lineup for the 2014 Asian tour.

I'm curious which bass Nate will bring on that tour.

Not sure about the RBXJM2, but possibly the good ol' polar white TRB6P or his newly acquired Mayones Caledonius 6.
