My plea to the wife:

You know that love song I am writing for you honey? Well it would sound much nicer on a acoustic guitar rather than my electric Fender Telecaster.

Isn't Christmas around the corner? Wink . . . wink . . . nudge . . . nudge.

Casually dropping the Christmas hint your loved ones:

Do any of my Fender Lounge Lizards have a clever way to talking to the wife, girlfriend or relatives when it comes to this. I would love to hear some creative response on this. LOL!

I don't have to. My girlfriend is a solo artist that I play with, and she buys gear all of the time that we both use. It's a mutual thing when it comes to gear, as long as our budget allows it. That's why we like AMS, because of their payment plan options. Those were handy when we got that Passport 500 awhile back. $1000 or even $900 (if you get it when there is a rebate) isn't exactly chump change when you're a struggling artist and you have other expenses.

Here's how I got the hint this year:

Ted, your niece says she wants an electric guitar for Christmas.
Me: Ok, I'm on it.

So I'm down to 2-choices. A Squier Esprit Masterbuilt or a Schecter Tempest Custom. If it were me, it would be the Tempest. But her favorite color is black, and the Esprit is black. At least I got it narrowed down to 2 today.

I just want a new set of strings from Santa. A 30 foot cable, too. Neither of those items look good under a tree, is the thing.

Why bother?

It's soooooooo much more dignified to plead for forgiveness rather than beg for permission.

1. Get magazines.

2. Cut out the letters you need.

3. Get supplies to break into a place undetected.

4. Break into a chemical warehouse. (if not, any middle/high school science storage room may have it)

5. Acquire chloroform.

6. Break into your own house while you're "away for the night." (make up some kind of lie, it won't hurt, especially because you get a guitar out of it.)

7. Sneak up on your wife and chloroform her.

8. Tie a bag over her head and take her somewhere secret.

9. Remember those letters? Make a fake ransom note demanding the highest end acoustic guitar possible.

10. Show the ransom note to the guitar company in question. Say you're not a player and remove all evidence of guitar from your home.

11. Keep your wife hidden until you get your guitar.

12. Hide it away so she'll think the "kidnappers" took it as ransom.

13. Bring it home a month or so later and say you got it at a yardsale and just happened to get really lucky.

That seems like an elaborate plan. I have a feeling the FBI would frown upon such activities, though. :P

If you did it correctly, they wouldn't know a thing.

Seriously, though, neither guitars nor money. All I really want is a hug from the girl I love. Or a fifth of tequila.

Why stop at a fifth? That's like half a serving.
