Every since I first heard her voice in 1968 I have been absolutely infatuated with her but when I first saw the face that this beautiful voice came from I was absolutely and hopelessly smitten.I am referring to Linda Ronstadt who I have always thought was the most beautiful woman on earth and who most assuredly had the absolute most incredibly beautiful voice.I recently saw autographed copies of her new autobiography "Simple Dreams" for sale by a very reputable firm that specializes I such things so I certainly had to order it.I believe that the book is centered around her musical career but haven't started to read it yet.I'm wondering if she alludes to how she's coping with the onset of Parkinson's disease,I'll find out soon enough I guess.

Thanks so much for posting that SBLS,you made my day!!!She was incredibly beautiful when she was younger and even now after being stricken with Parkinson's and gaining a good deal of weight you can still see the beauty in her features. It was a shock for me though a few months back when I saw a recent photo of her,I didn't even recognize her until I had studied the pic for quite some time. What's most tragic about this is that she has lost her incredible singing voice, that must be earth shattering for her,I know that I feel bad enough about losing a large part of my playing ability but to lose a voice that was considered one of the best in the world must be devastating for her.

Not to worry Derek, LR is set for life and my guess is that she will overcome parkinsons too. Michael Nesmiths song put her on the charts for the long term. Although she is 6 years older than I that song and her striking good looks and beautiful voice made this 16 year old ( in 1967) take notice. Linda had her struggles professionally through her first few albums but you can't keep a good woman down and her talent prevailed. You picked an excellent lady to have a crush on lol. :D

Met Linda back in '67 and didn't even realize it.

I had a friend who's older brother was a Concert Promoter, and he'd 'hire' us to work backstage security. Backstage 'gofers' was more like it, but we were 15 and it was cool hanging backstage, working the gate to allow those 'on the list' admission and generally doing whatever we were told to do... everything from fetching ice to packing/unpacking road gear. Heady stuff at 15 in those days ! 8)

Anyway, he had a triple-bill outdoor show at the old Metropolitan Stadium - The Stone Ponys, Jefferson Airplane and the Strawberry Alarm Clock.

Somewhere between sets as they were tearing down one band and resetting, I was sitting by the craft table and this chick comes and sits down. She's asking about Mpls. and my school, what I'm doing there, etc., says she's with the band... I'm figuring a groupie or someone's old lady.

She was older, maybe 20-22, really pretty and wore a disturbingly short (to a 15 y.o.) miniskirt, so I was really nervous, but really digging it at the same time. Then some older guy came, sat down and started monopolizing her which I didn't like at all.

After about 10 min., my buddy's bro comes over and tells her they're ready. She stands up, says to me: "It was nice talking with you..." and heads for the stage. My buddy's bro says: "How did you like Linda ? What did you guys talk about? ". My brain goes 'Dooooohhhhhh.... !!'

Anyway, they finished their set and walked right out to their car for the airport and I never got to speak with her again.

cheers!

I didn't know about the autographed books. I got "Simple Dreams" but it's not an autographed copy. Speaking of books,
yours looks to be close to delivery and I never even checked to see if there was any autographs in it. Imagine a Cynthia or John Lennon autograph in it, but probably unlikely.
