Looks like a rattlesnake. Meanwhile the "business end" of the snake is hanging about waist high or lower... Not sure if that's a wise choice. And it might be the reason he's looking a mite unhappy.

Planet Waves cables have a lifetime warranty. You can take it back and get a new one. No charge at all.

While technically true, how many keep the receipt for ultra-cheap products? The time and costs of finding the receipt and driving to the store, or calling to get an RMA and paying for packaging and shipping is likely higher than what the cable cost.

If I see low quality product names on anything, I add replacements to my next order, and toss the cheap stuff before it gives me problems. That's cheaper than spending time dealing with problems later.

I am pretty sure you don't need the receipt and they will swap it out. I gave him the contact info so he could check. When I had a Monster cable go bad took it to Guitar Center and they swapped it for a new one and guess what? I had no receipt. I wouldn't call some of their products cheap either. Up till fairly recently they were making a superior cable product, it was just stiff. The big gray cable ran about $75 for a 20 footer. I have one.

I have no experience with Van Damme cables but I do use Neutrik (SpeakON) cables on my P/A system between the amp and the speaker cabinets and also between the amp and cabinet on one of my bass rigs. I like Neutrik. They are securely attached making it difficult to accidentally disconnect them and unlike ¼" standard cable ends you can connect or disconnect while the equipment is live without any chance of shorting or loud cracking noises. If the amp is set with the volume fairly high you will only hear one soft click as the connection is closed. In addition to SpeakON I also have a Neutrik PowerCON A/C power cable connector on my P/A power amp. (QSC PL325) It shares the same benefit of security although I have to admit I have never tried disconnecting it in while the main switch is in the "on" position and the cabinets still connected.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
