I only use Fender cables tbh Alan, but seriously they weren't so good beforehand, well maybe the the Californian ones, as they used to unscrew. Now I only use Custom tweed ones, or Koilly kables, or whatever they are called. The ones you use sound pretty ace though.

The problem I have with Neutrik plugs is that the cables almost invariably only have them on one end. And Murphy ensures that it will be on the opposite end from where you need to plug/unplug the next time.

I have one distortion pedal that's so hot that if I use just any TS cable, I pick up a local radio station. I've found that a twin shielded PRS cable does the best job keeping it off the air.
The Fender tweed ones don't silence it for me. They look great, though :D

Van Damme is a European raw cable maker. Neutrik is a European connector maker. Somebody has to marry the two together to make an instrument cable and who actually performs the ceremony matters a lot. There are many of them on eBay for sale assembled by the seller. These two products when combined PROPERLY are going to be durable. However if improperly constructed they will not be as reliable as you might expect. The same can be said for Mogami or Canare cables too, who assembles them and how matters a lot.

I do not use Van Damme cable. If you are in the USA I promise you are going to find the US Dollar exchange rate unfavorable on any Euro based product right now, meaning it will be super pricey in the USA. There is no doubt that Van Damme makes great cables, but as far as sound goes I can't say for sure whether or not they are worth a huge premium just because they are European made.

well the cable arrived today , i only ordered it yesterday :) , i'll be trying it out in a wee while , i got one with the silent reed switch for plugging into the guitar ,http://www.neutrik.co.uk/en-uk/plugs-jacks/silentplug/
, i was using a planet waves breaker switch cable which developed a fault in the middle of the cable , it's only about a year and a half old , so i won't be buying any more planet waves cables hence the switch to van damme cables , ill let you know how it sounds , cheers

I didn't know the 'Muscles from Brussels' sells cables... guess there is Life after Cinema !!

Seriously, I've never tried Van Damme cables, I use Whirlwind Leader Elite Cables.
USA made w/ a Lifetime warranty.

They're a little more expensive, and they only wind one way making them slightly ungainly if you're out gigging, but they also make my guitars sound much 'better' than any other cables I've tried (Mogami, Planet Waves, CS Tweed).

Their sound and their warranty makes them worth it to me.

cheers!

Planet Waves cables have a lifetime warranty. You can take it back and get a new one. No charge at all. Here is a link to their support page where you can get started on getting it replaced: http://www.planetwaves.com/PWContactUs.Page?ActiveID=4006

Good luck with the Belgian thing.

While technically true, how many keep the receipt for ultra-cheap products? The time and costs of finding the receipt and driving to the store, or calling to get an RMA and paying for packaging and shipping is likely higher than what the cable cost.

If I see low quality product names on anything, I add replacements to my next order, and toss the cheap stuff before it gives me problems. That's cheaper than spending time dealing with problems later.

I just noticed that the cable I have right here is a VanDamme with Neutrik plug. It was, as I recall, what I got from Guitar Center when I asked for a not-too-cheap not-too-expensive cable. It works, but picks up some noise.
I'll probably replace it with a PRS Signature Series, as those truly are silent.

Try the Vox cables. I use them more than any others.

Funny you should mention PRS cables. PRS is actually a North American distributor for Van-Damme cable and PRS cables are actually made using Van-Damme cable. Perhaps PRS uses a higher grade cable than what you bought at he Guitar Center, but PRS for sure uses Van-Damme made cable with proprietary PRS logo plugs that for all the world appear to be made by Neutrik. Neutrik has their USA HQ in Charlotte NC just a few miles from my home. Just thought I'd give you a heads up because if you buy a PRS cable it will say Van-Damme on the wire itself.

Interesting. The PRS Signature has Neutrik plugs, yes - and they're labeled as such, not as PRS. And if looking REALLY close, there's a tiny "VanDamme" text printed on the back of the Neutrik plugs too.
The main difference between the PRS and the "straight" VanDamme appears to be that the PRS one is slightly thinner, yet shields better. And the "straight" one doesn't say "silver plated". It also cost around $20 less than the PRS one, which then seems about right.

Neither are bad cables, at any rate. No crackling, no tangling, easy to coil (unlike Fender cables), and they just work. Perhaps I'll hold on to the VD-branded one then - thanks for useful info!
