Today's date and a very memorable one that won't happen again for another hundred years. Enjoy the day...or play the lottery. :D

You mean a year's time? 12-13-14?

And at sixteen seconds, fifteen minutes after two o'clock p.m. tomorrow, it'll be:

11-12-13 14:15:16.

In most of the world, people have adapted a date notation that actually sorts:
YYYY-MM-DD

Then again, people here still measure land in furlongs by chains, and still refer to 25 cents as two bits centuries after pieces of eights disappeared, so who knows when the ISO date format will be adopted, if ever. It's not like the month names have been updated either - November still proclaims that it's the ninth month.

Yet, I sign my forms with 2013-11-12, in the hope that this time people will adopt a sensible change.

Snowjoe has a point. For me this would happen in 29 days … if I numbered that way but I go the other way so it will never really happen anymore. Internationally, there are two numbering conventions. They either go from large to small increments or from small to large.

ie:
dd-mm-yy
or
yy-mm-dd

I suspect it's only in USA (and some Canadians) who order them mm-dd-yy to follow how we usually say it out loud. In my work we always use yy-mm-dd. Makes it easier to search for files.

It's still an interesting idea though. I may make that comment on my FB on Dec 11.

What about when it was 2:15 PM, military time?

That'd be 11/12/13, 14:15 :D

Or at 10 seconds after 8:09 this morning it was:

08:09:10 11-12-13

Meanwhile, the military has adopted ISO 8601, and would write 2013-11-12 14:15Z. Getting rid of the ambiguity saves lives.

In Australia it's dd/mm/yy.
So it'll happen in about a month here.
