Probably a Yamaha at school, simply messing around on it during a music lesson, or something. Never really got the urge to play one, or the feeling to do so either. Don't feel like I missed out either. :|

A pump organ. It was what The Beatles used, so who were I to argue?

.....was spinette-style piano...about 62 years ago[age 9]. Prior to that I used to 'noodle' on toy pianos and a neighbor's baby grand when I was very young, and

Well, I had one of these: http://www.synthmania.com/multivox_mx-20.htm which I wish I still had, for at least for my girlfriend to play. I couldn't really play keyboards worth a damn, so I sold it at a loss. One of those dumb moves I did where gear is concerned. I would really still like to learn how to play keys. I'd like to that more than I would playing guitar, besides playing bass. Anyway, it was a simple keyboard from the 70's, but had a couple of cool sounds. Nothing elaborate. I liked the bass keys it had. I used to run it through my Peavey Databass I had.

1926 Baldwin Hamilton upright piano - at age 7 - my mother played and I learned to love melody lines. I used to try and play the Bonanza theme on it. :?

Bought mine fairly recently to write songs with. It's a Yamaha Motif ES6. Sounds great to me.

That's funny, this is a curiously timely thread for me. I've tinkered with keyboards now and then over the years but I never owned one before. Until now. I just put down a deposit couple of days ago on a midi keyboard for use on my computer. They tell me it will come in in a couple of weeks. It's called Akai Max 49. I know very little about keyboards so I hope I didn't get something stupid. I wanted something in a medium size that came with semi-weighted keys and dedicated pads for triggering drum patches.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

If you're thinking of taking lessons or do two hand playing, you should consider picking up something bigger too. While 88 keys is the small piano standard, you seldom need more than 76 for normal two hand playing, and can get away with a 61-key too. But smaller than that, and you get limited. A 49 key keyboard is like a 12 fret guitar...
If it's just for learning, don't worry about the sound or configurability - you can pick up a used Yamaha PSR with weighted keys for $50 or less.

Also, the Akai Max 49 is a MIDI controller, meant to be used with DAW software or a hardware synth, and not primarily as a standalone stage keyboard providing the sounds, but you knew that?

My first keyboard is a Hammond B3 "chopped" from what I know of it and no it is not documented but I do know 2 people that toured with it on the Frampton Comes Alive tour and then it went out with J Geils Band as a back up B3 as they slammed the keys pretty hard on the main B3, and it would need repair from time to time. I bought it from my friend who chopped it for the tour around 1983-85 (I guess I getting old and forgetful )
