SBLS,

Thanks! It's been a while for me between posts ;) I have been in reading once in a while but not posting. Very busy with life etc!

As for the guitar in question, i got an ad in my email but it was tough to find on the website. also could not find in for sale online anywhere.

Wouldn't mind a US made Fender with2 HB, coil tap ability, and a fixed bridge :D

Looks like a great guitar...but the fact that they're not available as an American Standard might bother me. It makes me think the American Specials have other origins.

Gonna be honest...not sure what you are talking about. American Specials are made in America, hence the American Special name.

The American Special Mustang is made of secondary Kurt Cobain Mustang parts...which are MIM.

First of all, what do you mean by secondary parts?

Secondly, this mustang shares no features with the Cobain model. They have different tuners, truss rod adjusts, fret size, neck shape, radius, pickups, wiring configuration, and bridge style. They only thing they share is a body shape.

Regardless, while i am not a fan of MIM standards, personal preference, I own classic Series Strats and Teles that are MIM and they are great value for money, and i prefered them to my old American Standard strat, so much so that I sold my American standard. So i have no issues with MIM guitars either.

Now if you mean some of the parts are sourced outside of America, I am certain they are. This is the 21st century and other regions are also capable of turning out quality products and better prices.

Nope...what I mean is the body and neck originate in the Cobain wood pile. They should really call it the Mexican Special Mustang.

It's assembled in the U.S.

None of this means that all of the American Specials are assembled of MIM wood, but...........................

Well, I like Mustangs, but I don't need more solidbodies with humbuckers, but it looks good although I like the switching on the Pawn Shop Mustang better.

This could find an audience.

I'd switch the stock pickups and install a phaser/bleeder.

Not because I doubt they sound good, but because I already know exactly what I want with a humbucker guitar. if I have the hundreds to throw around on this, why not save the extra to get it the way I want it?
