The following is an eBay link to a guitar, an Ibanez JTK2 Jet King.

/itm/Ibanez-Jtk2-Electric-Guitar-Jet-King-SHIPPING-INCLUDED-/300981695415?pt=Guitar&hash=item4613e833b7

"Hold the stylish Ibanez Jtk2 electric guitar in your hand and showcase a string of magical tones, making your audience go bonkers! With 22 numbers of medium frets, this Ibanez electric guitar suits well for the beginners and also provides amazing harmony. Coated in mahogany body with off-set triangle inlays, this Ibanez 22-fret guitar oozes out its oomph factor, giving you the true 'rockstar' look. The Ibanez Jtk2 comes with rosewood fingerboard that provides you with warmer tones to make your music sound better. This Ibanez 22-fret guitar gives you BR-EG bridge pickup that escalates your overall performance. Strum the strings of this Ibanez electric guitar and impress your loyal fans with your charismatic talent."

Whoever wrote this description pisses me off. Not only is it poorly written, but it's written in a way that would entice someone without knowledge of musical instruments to buy it. Saying that rosewood will make you sound better, or saying that the bridge pickup will "escalate" your performance is kind of vague, and also kind of pushing a bit like a used car salesman with a shady reputation.

I was considering one of these guitars, but I hope to god that's not Ibanez's description.

It sounds to me almost like someone used translation software to convert it to English from another language.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Yeah, this seems like mainland East Asian superlativism. It really doesn't work in the Western world (outside HiFi shops), and gives the impression that the seller is trying to fool you and is very bad at it too.

I cannot find anything on that model on the IBANEZ website. But I am inclined to agree it looks like a translation site was used to write that up.

I'm afraid if that bothers you then you are not going to enjoy shopping on the internet very much!

Hi j.4knee. It seems to have been a real model. Here, for example:

http://www.zzounds.com/item--IBAJTK2

That page also suggests it's been d/c'd, so that's probably why you can't find it on Ibanez's website.

Buxom, was this the Ebay listing you found?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-Jtk2-E ... 4613e833b7

If so, then I don't think the seller is trying to misrepresent the sale, to judge by some of his other offerings. Since his written English looks fine elsewhere I expect he's just cut-and-pasted the description from some non-English speaking sector of the internet, possibly Asia, as suggested above.

And since the seller is in South Africa I doubt the expense and trouble of buying this cheap guitar from there is worth your while. More in the next post (maximum of two URLs permitted per post...).

Cheers - C

...And we're back.

Buxom, you can find a red Ibanez Jet King for sale much closer to home. For instance, here's one in New Jersey at a slightly lower price and complete with Bigsby:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBANEZ-JET-KING ... 2584cf15c9

Howzat?

Cheers - C

[A little later]

Curiosity piqued, I've just been doing a spot of searching and found the Ibanez Jet King on an out-of-date Ibanez webpage:

http://web.archive.org/web/201101091315 ... Series-JTK

And reading elsewhere it seems the Jet King is a modern reissue of Ibanez's 1960s Rhythm Maker guitar. The Jet King II / JTK2 which Buxom found apparently dates between 2003-2011. The Bigsby'd version in the Ebay sale I found (above) is a JTK4 series, from 2007 or after.

So now we know! :)

Cheers - C

Oh, I know I can find one closer. I was more or less browsing eBay to find a price point.
