Yeah I did mate- I remember when I played my first fender, I would've been your age and I could barely play properly I was too excited at what I was holding..

I see you had a blast on that guitar :)

first guitar was a fender DG4 acoustic in tobacco sunburst. still got it, sounds much nicer than an instrument that cheap should do.

first electric was my fender '72 custom telecaster.

First was a Squier Affinity Strat which you get in the starter packs, was prefect for learning the ropes.

Then I moved on to a Squier CV 60's Strat which I still use as it's a fabulous guitar, just in need of some TLC right now.

Then I got my newest baby which is just a MIM Tele, absolutely love it but been toying over swapping out the pickups, but I have a feeling I'm just wanting to do it because I've got a bit of gear itch!

Kay 6 string electric.
such a bad guitar! I (without sanding) painted it with a latex wall paint!
I played through some cheap 2-input realistic PA mixer because it would distort when you overdrive the inputs...
you can imagine how that all sounded... and looked!
It was a major step up when I got a sears harmony!!

Started on one of these. Got it used in 83 for about 250 US. It may have been a model similar to this one, but I seem to remember the controls being like this one.

I started by going to my friend's house everyday and we would take turns playing his guitar. He would show me stuff that his older brother taught him. After about 6 months I showed my Dad what I had learned and that I was going to stick with it. After that he bought a guitar for me.

That's the kind of guitar that gives me a raging hard on. 8)

My first guitar was a no name unfinished acoustic I got a garage sale. Ended up painting a psychedelic montage in watercolor on it and leaving it on display in my apartment and not really playing it too much. Stayed with piano and organ for a long time until mobilizing to Afghanistan where there weren't too many pianos to be had, so I picked up an MIM Strat.

-Lemmee see. Hmmmm.... that would be item number 1,575,642 on that list of yours. Waaaay beyond anything Gene Simmons could have possibly boasted of in 3 lifetimes or as many careers.
Carry on, and do keep us updated on any new that comes up.

There were certainly a lot of well honed chops sharpenend on 'crappy' guitars played along side 'crappy' record players back in the day...and they didn't look or feel like Squier Strats either. If you could hold your own on a Kay electric with a baseball bat of a neck in 1958, you were sure to be an ace on your first Fender

My first guitar was a Cort Effector...kind of an Explorer, but with a bunch of push button effects near the volume and tone controls. I traded it for my first bass, which was an MIJ Mosrite copy.

A no name nylon string acoustic my parents rented for something like $10/week. The deal was that if I practiced and continued with lessons, they'd consider something better down the road. That day came about 4 months later when my mom convinced my uncle to sell me his 65 Mustang and an Ampeg Jet for $100. That was my first "real" guitar and I kept that for over 3 years before upgrading again.
