Fresh from the thrift store. $30.

I bought this guitar because it immediately caught my attention. When I picked it up, I found that it had a neck that's almost the exact same size as my Guild's. It feels very similar, so I like it.

Things that need done: Saddle shave, new tuners, new bridge pins, truss rod adjusted, and overall cleaned up. The frets are in surprisingly good shape as well.

This is a Kingston with a Strat headstock, btw.

For $30 that is amazing - congratulations!

It is fairly nice for $30. Smallest acoustic neck I've ever played on.

I might go get new strings and pins later today

The fretboard cleaned up so beautifully.

Now, I'm not a luthier by any means, but how difficult could replacing a saddle be? I don't imagine it's very difficult, but could someone give me a bit of advice. I'm considering just jumping into this thing and making it a real player.

Also, the trussrod had a factory seal in place on it still. Neck is straight now. :)

Congrats on that,I don't know if you're aware of it but that guitar is at the very least 46 years old.Kingston guitars were made in Japan between 1958 and 1967.Most of these guitars were made by Guyatone or Teisco, were electric and were imported to the U.S. by Westheimer Importing Corp. of Chicago.Yours, depending on condition and model could be worth up to $350. A set of D'Addario EXP Phospher-Bronze or Paul Reed Smith acoustic strings should brighten up the tone quite a bit.BTW they didn't even list and Kingston acoustic guitars in the guides that I have,so that leads me to believe that they were not very plentiful.

It isn't in very good shape, sadly. But it sounded dark and smooth when it had strings on it. My guess for years were between 65 and 69, definitely 69 or before, considering Teisco went under then (iirc)

I think I'm going to try a medium gauge. Gonna go to the music store within a few hours.

I may actually contact the Youtube user davey4557. He's personally helped me with problems before.

Kingstons are rare guitars, so be careful with that beast!, My no name acoustic is rare and it is a beautiful guitar for percussion guitar ala August Rush

Got some new bridge pins today. Shaved the saddle as well.

What gauge of strings should I get for this thing??

I'm definitely going with something lighter, probably either .8s or 9s, but I'm not sure which to choose.

Also, the new bridge pins add more swag. Rosewood pins with abalone inlays.
