I decided to break out my 93 Fender Tele and took ot to our last jam.
Unfortunately there was no bass player, so we rocked it with two guitars and the drummer.
First couple of times I jammed with these guys I had my Squier J Mascis jazzmaster and it was great. The next couple of jams I had my 2001 Strat, and it wasn't cutting it.
I had reservations about bringing the tele, as it has not been set up or had a string change in quite some time, and on top of that the worn frets issue, but I stomped on the OD and it sounded great! I will get this guitar checked out soon, but I couldn't wait.
I knew this was the guitar that would fit in the mix. Its got the Lil 59 in the bridge so it cuts through nicely. Playing that guitar was like seeing an old friend you haven't talked to in years!
So lately I've been gassing for a Les Paul. I've been checking them out daily online, and went to the shop the other day and grabbed a few to strum during my short visit.
When I show up to the jam, in the corner where I set up is the other guitar players Gibson Les Paul Studio. He left it for me to try out. What a coincidence! I seem to be getting over my neck issues I've had with Gibsons. Although different, this guitar felt good. The strings felt looser than my Fender's do, but I really enjoyed playing it. I sound just like me but with a Les Paul!

Lately I've been changing up which is the "Choosen One", and instead of grabbing the usual, I've been picking what hasn't been played in a while. For me that has been my '10 Am Dlx Strat which didn't see much play time for nearly a year because of other purchases. Sometimes you forget how good a particular guitar is when you get sidetracked. I plan on taking the Strat to an open mic tonight and have decided to use it for a show coming up in three weeks. My LP is trying hard to get the show spot. It's good to have options.

I have usually only taken one guitar with me any time I have ever jammed. I was worried about the the tele, so I brought my Jazzmaster as a back up.
Then I get there and the Les Paul is waiting for me. All of a sudden I have many options!
Next time I'll bring my Squier Tele Custom II. Maybe after that I'll try out my Jagmaster, but the other guitar player has the exact same one that I do.
