Hello I am new to all this, just learning the guitar and would like some information regarding strings. I recently bought a Telecoustic and would like to know which strings are recommended. Many thanks

This should be a FAQ: To find out the recommended strings a Fender guitar is delivered with, go to the Fender page for that model, and select the Specs tab. Near the bottom, the string type will be listed.

In your case: "Fender® Dura-Tone® 80/20 Phosphor Bronze (.012-.052 Gauge)"

You can usually safely go up or down one string size, but more than that might require nut or bridge adjustments. In your case, since you're new to guitar, I would recommend going with a .011 set instead of .012. They will be less hard on your fingers.

I have a Stratacoustic which is pretty well the same principle as the as the Telecoustic and where it has a Strat neck I use D'Addario .008-.038 strings on it.I find that electric guitar strings work best with the piezo pickups on the bridge and yet you get an authentic acoustic tone when you amplify it.

With that thin strings, and nickel coated steel strings, it won't be much good without an amp.

I find that with the D'Addario .008 to.038 or even the heavier .010-.046 with the wound .017 3rd you still can get great volume and projection when the Stratacoustic is played acoustically,in fact they are much louder and more brilliant than the phosfer-bronze or silk and steel strings. The nature of the Strat and Tele acoustics is such that the shallow composite bowls they have in common aren't the greatest resonating chambers for these guitars anyway and consequently they can't come near Dreadnaughts, Orchestral or even parlor size guitars for volume and projection.

I have experimented with several brands and types of strings on my Stratacoustic and some-such as the Martin light Silk and Steel were taken off faster than they were put on because they had such a negative affect on the sound both amplified and acoustically, they just sounded so flat and lacklustre.

Thanks very much for your input, I'll experiment with the suggested strings.
