Hi , i was in my local guitar shop yesterday for some strings and spotted out the corner of my eye a gibby sg , special faded cherry , it was love at first sight  , i do prefer the dots on an sg neck , so anyway i put a deposit down on her , nd i should have it in a few weeks , just need to sneak it into the house
Also i'm heading to edinburgh in a wee while to pick up a set of burstbucker pups , lightly aged nickel covers from a CS 59 reis , to replace the hot 498 , 500t set of gibby pups in the epi sg , i have them lowered right down but it's still too much for the music i play , i've got the sg stripped so it's just a matter of throwing the new pups in , i'll let you know how they sound , oh and the nephew has already claimed the gibby hot pups for his epi sg custom  i'm teaching him well 8) , cheers
Alan

Enjoy your new SG when you get her. I've got a 2013 standard which I'm still paying off. I find SG's a whole lot more versatile that LPs, but everyone to their own.

Moral of story. Stay out of local guitar shop whilst suffering from a bout of GAS.

hi , guys , Steviecaster , i have a heavily modded epi lp custom which excells for the old zz top tunes , i prefer it to the gibby lp's ,

Derek the old sg400 is sounding the best it ever has with this set of low powered pafs , neck is 7'4 and the bridge is 8.6 , whereas the bridge gibby that it had was 16.8 , HOT, really loving the sound of these burstbuckers , i'll be taking the sg to rehersals on wednesday to give them a thorough workout , along with some cream classics and a few SAHB numbers for good measure 8)

SBLS , sorry mate , no pics of embra (i hate the place) but i'll get a few up of the new pups and the new sg when it arrives , by the way , our drummer teaches drums with ted mckenna from SAHB , just thought i'd mention that , you being a big fan of the greatest rock band to hail from these fine shores

ZZDOC , in all honesty i went into the shop for strings , there were no signs of gas , ( sweating , drooling ect) it was just one of those perfect moments , our glances met across the room , a quick eye up and down and straight to the fondl,,, sorry playing of a nice axe  , now i'm wondering how the 490's are going to sound next to the burstbuckers , and then i'm going to have to wire it 50 style , man i think i might have a problem  , cheers
Alan

Sorry...anyone walking into a shop is a subclincial GAS carrier and subject to unanticipated and unplanned for acute exacerbations of same. Consider the SG's point of view:

'The minute you walked into the joint
I could see you were a man of distinction
A real big spender....
Hey big spender, spend a little time with me.

ZZDOC , LOL , unfortuneatley for the sg i have a tendency to be a heavy hitter so it's going to take a bit of a beating i'm afraid , the other guitars are used to it now  , I ordered up some new v pick screamers last week , the one i had been using for the last 5 or 6 months did not resemble a screamer , each point must have been worn in 1/4 of of an inch , gotta love sreamers :D , cheers

We spent four days in Edinburgh a few months ago and really enjoyed the stay. Of course, it might be all of the tourists that you don't like. It was pretty crowded. We stayed near Market Green and there was a pretty nice music store, I think it was Red Dogs? Anyway, good luck with the SG. I've yet to own one.

Alan, "Love means not ever having to say you're sorry" mate. Chicago gets me sometimes as well. I think that I'm friends with Ted's friendface page. Now I'd like to hear your drummer, Ted is one of my all-time favorites. No drummer hits like Ted except Dave Grohl might hit that hard sometimes too. My favorite rock and roll band SAHB, have fun jamming that material. 8) :D

hi , Drew , it's not the tourists i have a problem with it's the edinburgers and thier city i dislike
SBLS i'll get a cd run off at the next rehersals of us doing a couple of SAHB numbers , and our drummer is good , any time sig not a problem , well versed in multiple genres , ( we're lucky to have landed him , luckily he's a big rory fan and answered my add for a drummer to play rory tunes , but things evolved and now we do a bunch of other stuff )

Got the gibby home tonight and she sounds sweet through the marshall , a wee bit of a settup required for my own tastes but it's bloody nice 8) , i'll get pics up over the weekend guys, cheers
Alan
