For the record, you were one of two people who made me feel unwelcome. But I doubt you meant yourself.

Live and let live. People are different, here as in fleshspace. When you start patrolling to excise those who don't fit with your concept of how people should be, society doesn't make a turn for the better.

The age of electronica is upon us, they predict the death of manually played music in the near future. It will all be digital.
No more guitarist, bassists and drummers.
Shall we usher in the new age?

Each time a young punk walks in off the street shall we agree that he is but a worthless punk and should go away?
Or shall we embrace them and show them our ancient ways? We are the elders and we are the masters, what we leave behind will be determined by our actions.

Do you see that as what happened here?

Well, cutting down on the hubris a bit might be a good start?

Long, long ago, in China, far away, a humble young man came to a Shaolin temple beseeching the monks for permission to join their order and learn the ancient ways of WuShu. The eldest priest handed him a broom and instructed him that it was now his responsibility to meditate every day, be guided by the actions and behaviors of the monks of the order, and keep the temple grounds clean. Days, weeks and months passed by as the young supplicant went about his duties, ever so often being subjected to a rap behind the knees or on the shoulders with staff of one of the elders. Finally, in desperation the young supplicant approach the elder and pleaded, "Master, this is not what I had hoped for!" " I humbly petitioned to learn your ways." "I have been dutifully caring out my responsibilities, caring for the grounds, and being subject to punishment I don't understand." "When will you begin to instruct me? " The old master replied: "My son, we have been instructing you, in the ways of discipline, patience, humility and respect." "As for WuShu, when your senses have been attuned to the point where we can no longer sneak up behind you and strike, you will first be ready to begin."

So, 'donnycraven', when some young punk walks in here 'off the street', asks for our help, and then puts his finger in his nose and snaps a booger at us because he didn't get what he came for, do we continue to make him welcome as his mentor and guide as did the Shaolin master?

Well I am fairly new here... and you can all just crawl straight up my...
JK
The OP was the very definition of a troll from what I saw.
He admitted to being on here in the past and now having to use a new account to even post.
The first reply he got, which was good, sound, reasonable advice: Google it! Is exactly what I would have suggested to anyone
He went ballistic, and I think any answer at all would have brought out the same!
He is a "seagull" troll... he flew in, took a crap, and flew away.
As far as business goes, it is always GOOD business to turn down BAD business...
Fender could potentially loose way more sales from one jerk hanging around here than they may or may not have made from the troll.
Or so says I anywho...
YMMV

I agree, and everyone has been giving this guy far more credit than he deserves.

We've really left the main line here. Again...It would be most appropriate if everyone went back and carefully read the first ten posts in this thread and refamiliarize themselves with the gist of what happened.

We-e-ell...

Reading just the first two posts explains what happened. Buxom replied to the OP with this:

If you click that lmgtfy link you do indeed get directed to an answer to the question - but you also have to sit through a bunch of snarky stuff that runs

1. Type in your question
2. Click the search button
3. Was that so hard?

I've seen that routine cause rows on this Forum plenty of times. No doubt it seems smart and hilarious to the person who posts it, but it also nearly always comes across as a smack in the face to the guy on the receiving end.

This is an internet forum, and people including the OP need to be a bit thick-skinned about this sort of thing. If we find a post less than to our taste it's usually better to just ignore it and move on. (I do not speak as a model of perfection in that department...)

But at the same time, using the lmgtfy.com and similar methods are probably better avoided - if a friendly Forum is what we want.

Just a thought.

Cheers - C

......and Buxom's certainly had his moments since he first arrived here at 'the temple', hasn't he? We're still wacking him on the back with a staff now and then. Perhaps some day he'll be ready for formal training. 8)

This forum isn't so bad. I do detect a hint of "be miserable with me" every now and then..but that's easily overlooked...even if that attempt is done with many, many usernames. MISERY NOW! lol

Hi Doc
That was a pretty neat story I liked it.
Sorry I was at practice tonight, couldn't get on till now.
I wrote that from work while running a lathe today.
Ok let me elaborate on a few of the statements...
Elders - I meant I am 50 your are in your 70s we are older guys, the elder gents.
I have raised children I am an adult responsible for my actions.
I know you on a semi personal level and know you also to be a great human being.
Masters - I was referring to being masters of our Stratocasters or guitars.
I for one have been playing since I was about 10 and studied music theory at a collage.
All of us at a certain age become masters of our instruments.

We lose kids everyday to rap and electronica. Our numbers decrease.
Sad stuff.
Speaking of kids, there are kids that take the internet so serious they kill themselves over someone's comedy routine or fit of anger.
We don't know these people they're mental state there personal struggles.
But I am as guilty as the next guy, I think I am damn funny sometimes :)
Now I now all of these guys here are great guys and one on one would be awesome to be around I am sure.
I am not just singling out this thread.

Its our whole presence here.
We need to keep in mind the tone of a post, does not exist because the only tone a post has is the tone we read it in our head with.
How many times have you got into it with a female on text?
Only to think to yourself as she read it back to you, that's not the way I was saying that.
Everyone perceives things differently.
That's the reason politics and religion spark such debate, no two people see anything the same.
So when people are asinine let them be, a pecking order never solves or proves anything.
Most people don't get subtle hints so just spell it right out to them.
Some of the witty things we think we are getting across actually miss the mark because we all feel that our facial expressions and vocal tones actually made it into the text.

Here is my favorite :)
Freedom of speech
We all think we, especially in America have freedom of speech when in fact we never have.
Freedom would be the ability to say whatever we wanted when ever to whom ever with no repercussions.
This is a non existent fantasy because we are in fact held responsible for everything we say.
So long story short.
Be careful the words we say, keep them soft and sweet.
We never know from day to day, which ones we will have to eat.

Goodnight Gentleman
See you tomorrow :)
