(Part 2) I think having to make multiple posts can be avoided if you pick the two BEST URL's instead of a flood of URL's, most of which won't ever get clicked anyway! I know lots of people wish my posts were shorter but usually I'm talking and I can't shut up. URL limitation should not stop you from effectively communicating.

Everybody, let's do "The Tighten Up" now, and while you are at it do " The Lighten Up" too! Come on it is the weekend, so let's have some fun!

So of the two examples of posts containing multiple URLs that I posted, which two URLs would you suggest I pick that would allow effective communication? Why should I care if someone doesn't click on all of the URLs? No one is forcing them to and neither is anyone forcing them to read the post to begin with. I post mainly in the two amp forums. Those forums are the most technical of all of the forums here. Many posts there are lengthy because they are providing troubleshooting or information on modifications to amps, something that cannot always be done in a short post.

Has the URL restriction caused anyone to leave? This is the first time I've even seen anyone mention it and I know it's been in place for several months now.

Waiting for your first post to be approved would be very inconvenient. The forum isn't moderated at weekends when a lot of people will want to join up and ask questions.

I for one do not want to see a return to the olden days of the Fender Forum when it was only open to new posts during business hours in Scottsdale. For those of you who may not remember, that used to be how they dealt with this. I highly prefer the current measures.

I was not referring to the length of anyone's post but my own. Informative, educational, helpful posts of substantial length contribute valuable content. I was merely stating many of mine don't.

If one has a list of valuable related links, I really have no problem viewing them in a series of separate posts and clicking upon them if they appear of value to me. Is it more tedious for the poster imparting the information? Yes. But if the links are of value to the post and you feel compelled to share them then right now unless you want to use some offsite service that lists them on a linked page such as previously referenced then there is no other way.

I surely do not wish a return to the olden ways of the forum only being open business hours and hovered over by consumer relations. I think their migration to a more open forum was a good move and do not wish to see it revert. It took them a while to trust the forum membership enough to open it up 24/7. They do trust US, it is the spammers they don't trust.

bluesky636, good to see your post. I noticed the change when I tried to post 3 photos, yesterdays. 2 worked better as I realized that I was about to post a pic of a rare guitar's serial number, dumb luck. I had no idea restricting URLs would eliminate some spammers, again. Very cool Fender.
brotherdave, your brain is so good. 8)

WTF? I have made many posts in the past with multiple URLs with no problems. This is apparently something new. What purpose does it serve? What problem is it solving? How are we supposed to answer questions that may require multiple references in one post?

This is ridiculous. I have sent two e-mails to Brad about this. Between the trolls, the spam, and now this, the forum is going to cause a lot of people to lose interest in posting here (if it hasn't already). No other forum I post to has these problems or restrictions.

You and your good 'ol boy club caused me to lose interest.

Don't like it here, take a hike. I did and I'm taking another one now.

What a cry baby. Someone call the whaaaambulance. lol

Bye bye Billy.

There is a big group of old timers that like to be cyber bullies on these Fender boards.
They don't like new people like the Nathan kid they only want Parrots of themselves.
They think they all work for Fender and no one else can help anyone but them.
If you do, they get mad if you actually do help and can talk to people on a street level so they understand.
The cyber bullies here get furious and black ball you.
I think its hilarious :)
There is always gonna be new kids and new ideas.
I say everyone is welcome lets have a party!

Can't say I disagree. You've been having a blast Donny, good to see mate. Haven't been on the boards lately but logged in and seen there's been a bit of activity. After reading and spilling my tea from such laughter, I got a stain on my shirt- thanks Donny

I gotta say that it's refreshing to see someone takes the boards and everything on them with a pinch of salt. We have to remind people that it's just a forum, it's just the internet and nothing to be taken seriously or take offence to.

I hate the bullying and I've been noticing it too. Nathan is a good kid, very talented and can play better that any of the people who have been slagging him off.. He has some good hobbies too and knows a thing or two. I've seen his YouTube channel and I like the kid. He has his challenges, but the bullies don't know that.. Might wake them up if they did. But you're right. I don't know how old people here are, but I know it's an old bracket. You can tell. There are some people I do respect and I know I'll never meet them, but I'll offer them hospitality in my home any day.. I know they will know who they are.

Image
Anyways.. Getting on. I wanna party!!

I did recently up the post link limit to 3 vs. 2 - two was admittedly a bit extreme. Honestly, bandwidth usage is not a tremendous concern - the forums are truthfully a relatively small blip in Fender.com's overall bandwidth picture. So we're talking about an individual needing to submit 2 posts in a case where he/she has more than 3 links to share. This in exchange for much improved spam prevention. Totally understand the annoyance ... but it strikes me as a reasonably decent tradeoff.

Why thanks Blertles, that really means a lot to a kid like me, anyway I got my first Gretsch, it has tuning issues but I'm liking it regardless of it, I needed help with the tuning issues and I'm taking it in today to get a new nut and setup I think
so yeah party on \m/

I also taught myself how to play and tune by ear as well :D easy enough, now to get to the whole melodic fast playing part. I shall get the Gretsch setup and ready to play, and I may be buying two new pedals today \m/ and some leads lol

Hi Brad and everyone. Does the URL limit include links to photos hosted on sites like Photobucket? Is there now a three-photo per post ceiling?

Cheers - C
