I find it mind boggling that a collection of so many valuable guitars could have been taken in one fell swoop, there must have been several people involved in the actual heist because it would've taken just 2 or 3 people an incredibly long time to remove so many guitars. The real pity was that the guitar that I could see that was in the worst condition was an 8.5 which means that the majority of the guitars were from excellent to near mint condition. You would think that a store with an inventory of such an incredible dollar value would've had a security system as sophisticated as the one that DeBeers has in their main diamond vault, that's what I find the most puzzling.I have more security with my little 32 guitar collection.

Agreed. I visited there two years ago. It's fairly low rise office building complex and I had trouble finding their door.

It could have been an obsessive and wealthy collector who had intimate knowledge of the buildings layout and even the security system, probably due to doing a fair bit of business there over a prolonged period, deciding to send out a ready crew of skilled B & E experts when they had an inventory that he considered was worth the risk of robbing.

No doubt a knowledgeable unscrupulous collector would know exactly which other collectors he could approach and sell some of his priceless booty to without fear of being ratted on.With all of the nouveau riche,non-playing, Chinese hoarders, there has to be a good chance that a lot of them would have no qualms about buying guitars that were stolen from the US which they most likely view with contempt anyway.

It would not surprise me if all the items were in a single trucking container in a warehouse (or even loaded into a truck); the thieves rolled it onto the truck and drove off. That's really the only way you can get in and get out with that much gear.

To the best of my memory, there is nothing about the logistics of that office which would favor your thoughts particulary since the office was not at street level.
