We're a typical weekend band. We have played 46 nights in 45 weeks so far this year. Not too bad when you consider we only played 2 nights after the first of the year til the middle of March due to one of our members day job.
But we are down for the next 6 weeks due to a couple of members needing some medical attention. Fortunately nothing too serious, but our drummer is having a possible skin cancer removered from his left cheek (facial.... ) and one of our guitar players is having surgery on his right elbow to repair a torn tendon. His surgery is this coming thursday and doctors estimate a 4 to 6 week recovery. So we don't hit the stage again until Dec. 14th! :( I'm mentally prepared for down time after the first of the year, but this is usually a busy time for us.
We are planning to learn some new songs and have rehearsals during this down time. Our guitar player will just have to catch up when he can, but we will have our vocals worked out. He's also our front man and sings lead on 40% of our songs. The rest of us (3) split the lead on rest and we all sing harmony.
I live in a rual area, town pop. under 3,000, so there is not a whole lot of opportunities around, but I have arranged to practice with another local band. They are currently looking for a bass player and I told them I would help them out until they find one. Unfortunately, they aren't booking gigs until they do.
So along with my personal practice times here at home, I will continue to have plenty of playing time......just no stage time! Just looking ahead I'm already missing the time on stage.
Anyone have any suggestions for stage withdrawls???

Pick up a portable multitrack recorder and play over some homemade jam tracks, or try something like writing jingles.

Not a bad idea Miami Mike.
The last year I have tried to get the guys to do some recording.....just for ourselves, but they haven't shown much interest.
I have thought a little about doing some writing. Use to do some years ago and did have a publisher in Nasville pick up one. I was told that one national country artist considered it for their new album, but that's as far as it got.
Writing, at least for me, is very time consuming. That's the main reason I haven't got back into it.
I don't know....maybe I should give it another try.

Boss now has a BR-Micro 80 and you can find the
still good standalone BR-Micro for a very decent price.

An example (no affiliation):

Thanks....not a bad idea. An inexpensive way to keep track. I'm always thinking of a line or two....a verse....a bridge....a hook. Something like that would allow me to keep it where I could come back later to work on it or add to it.

As always....new directions in music lead to new gear....
