I just named my Epi Mandolin Eddie, because it looks like an Eddie
I Have 5 unnamed instruments, 6 if I include my Keyboard
I don't give my guitars Lady names, 'cause I take my guitar places I'd never take a Lady.

A couple days ago I renamed my Buddy Guy Strat "Red Bud". I figured there must be a lot of Buddy Guy Strats named "Buddy".

I named my black strat with black knobs and pickups, a pearl pickguard, and a dark rosewood neck. I appropriately called it the Black Pearl.

For those of you who name your guitars, what are their names, and where did you get the names from?

'97 Jazz Bass, teal green - Named "Leo" (If you can't figure out why his name is Leo, I think you're an idiot)

'99 American Standard Strat, Olympic White - Elizabeth - Named after this girl I had a huge crush on around the time I bought the guitar, sadly, we never dated.

'08 Deluxe Nashville Tele, Candy Apple Red - Shannon - So named because the Tele is a fiery red head, and when I think redheads, I think Irish, and Shannon makes for a nice Irish name.

(as a bonus, I figured out after I named the Tele Shannon, that my two guitars now make Shannon Elizabeth  )

i named my squire mexican p-bass ' love ' because when i got her she was in pretty bad shape all of the local luthiers said she was a lost cause and to pull the plug so to speak ( thats what i get for being lazy for a moment ) so i went to the manuals section on fenders website and in big bold letters it said play your fender ( i'm exaggerating a bit ) so i gave her a lot of love over the next few weeks and love is back to love , what else can i say .

Some seem to call out for you to name them.

Others "name themselves."

Still others seem happy with anonymity?

oh yeah!
my first bass,a yamaha rbx 270, is named Max.
my J Bass is named Bender and my Music Man Sting Ray Al (in honor of my grand father which left me money after is death).
I also have an acoustic Ibanez named Bruno and a fretless washburn called Les (try to guess....haha!).
I feel the urge to name my basses: they're more than friends....when i'm down or high, one of them is always there, ready to help me express the better way what i feel.

I put a small Yoda sticker on the headstock of my '94 Metallic Teal Green Tele. After picking it up from a set up, the salesman says to me,
"Ahh, the Yodacaster." Ever since then the name has stuck.
My Strat is Corona Red due to the neck plate and color and my Jagmaster is well, The Jagmaster.
I haven't named anything else.
