That suck he was a big influence for me back in the early 70s. Time marches on and no one gets out alive.

It was coming, but still, it is sad to see a great talent go.
His music will live on.

Slowly, but surely, we are losing all the great ones. It hits hard when they are all about my age.

Such a terrible loss. I loved the Velvet Underground, and his early solo work. RIP!

I just the news from my girlfriend. To say he was a huge influence is an understatement. Music producer Brian Eno once summed up their influence by saying: "The first Velvet Underground album only sold 10,000 copies, but everyone who bought it formed a band." I know I'm one of those people who were effected by him and the others after him. R.I.P. Uncle Lou. I'm sorry I never had a chance to meet you and I'm sad your gone. At least there is the music you left behind. :(

+1

It's tragic!

I can remember when we played the live version of "Sweet Jane" to a particularly boisterous biker crowd one night and how the music utterly tamed them when our singer did his spot-on Lou Reed shtick. What a great song and what a gifted performer Lou was.

:(
