I personally think that either Ginger Baker or Bonzo are probably the best drummers of all time.

Some personal favorites of mine:

Steve Jordan, Buddy Miles, Mitch Mitchell

I'm not enough of a drummer to distinguish who is the most skilled, but as a guitarist, these drummers really stick out to me when I'm listening to them play.

Co-writer of "Layla" Jim Gordon; even EC said he was probably the best drummer he ever played with. Give the Dominos Live CDs a listen; that guy is very busy on those cymbals as well as everything else.
Big. long solos don't make a good drummer... good insticts and a great sense of rhythm; not forgetting embelishments (like taping on those cymbals) really fill the space between bass drum and the snare. IMHO

Keith Moon is definitely the best drummer, even though he's dead. R.I.P

This is a lot of why I enjoy Steve Jordan as a drummer. He makes so much sound out of so little. He especially shines in a trio format band. Here's a picture of his rig in the studio.

How about Max Roach. This guy is so good, he doesn't even need a drum kit!

Oh, and lets not forget Buddy Rich, Neal Peart, Joe Morello, Steve Gadd and countless others!

For rock:

Niel Peart or Bill Bruford.

For Jazz:

Buddy Rich. Arguably the greatest drummer of the 20th century.

I knew what song you were talking about without even looking at the video.
