IMHO, the art is far more interesting without the name of the band slapped across it. I'd go for that alone as a novelty. Of course, the real purpose of the campaign is to sell a million copies of the re-release, isn't it :?:  The first three hundred copies, sold for a princely sum, come with a free guitar.

If that were the case, it would be a Squier. It's a real MIM Tele, which is $500, so it's $150 extra for the LP, wallpaper and wall hook.

I think it's a good deal, and if it had been offered from any other store than Amazon, I'd have bought one.

It's just a gimmick to get you to buy stuff you already have. (assuming you already have the vinyl from 1968.)

I know just about everyone on here has, or has had a Telecaster at some point. There's nothing special about the one offered, other than a special paint job that kills the clean and simplistic look of a Telecaster. (imo)

Of course it's a gimmick. And that's okay. We don't live in a utilitarian world, but do buy and use things based on their appearance too. You may not like the looks, while others may.

Nice guitar, but I was wondering how to convert it into a head?

Ha!

I've generally found these MIM's to be decent instruments. If we did a Forum guitar simply like this, it would serve our purpose at at cost most could bear.

I entirely take your point. And this Banquet Tele apparently comes with a custom etched neckplate too, which was one of the things we discussed at length for the Forum Guitar Project.

However, I suspect the crucial difference here is the order of 300 units. I don't think we ever mustered more than about 15 or 20 people who more or less agreed on a spec sheet for the Forum Guitar, did we? If a hundred or more of us had signed up for it I expect Fender would have been happy to take the sale and we'd be clutching that thing in our hot little hands by now.

Ah well...

Cheers - C

Not only would you have to get enough people to agree, but get enough people with money to agree, and agree enough that they'd commit to buying one.

A Fender Lounge gig bag could possibly be doable. Or picks.

Of course. It stand to reason that we would have to commit to the minimum # of units the company would deem necessary to move forward. That's been understood from the inception of this idea nearly a year ago.

Come to think of it, why would a beggar's banquet be set in a lou?

Where else?
The Stones are from old Blighty, where public loos were fairly common. This is where quite a few paupers went when they needed to be indoors. It was common to find a beggar or two next to the sink, peddling matches and cigarette papers, or in the more affluent districts, French letters.

Interesting cultural historical note.

LOL, French Letters...I wonder how many if our younger Forumites know what that is...

There were a good number of years, prior to HIV/AIDS, when 'the pill' was in vogue, that it wasn't first and foremost in mind to need to 'be prepared'. Somehow STD's weren't of primary concern either.
