I'm looking to get the De-Oxit GN-5 however it is not available in my country and I was only able to find De-Oxit DN-5 ($33 for 14 grams   )

Would anyone know if this is same as De-Oxit GN-5 and if not what is the difference, thanks.

I use D5 same as DN5, IMO . Gold ? For contact cleaner DN5 is good enough and most of the time too good !!! Yes , many good contact cleaner less expensive do the job.

First I use MG Chemical Contact Cleaner with silicon . If it do not work I try Deoxit , Most of the time MG work . I kept the Deoxit in spair

I prefer the 5 oz (142 gram) Deoxit D5 (which has more solvents and flushing action for cleaning) and/or Faderlube F5 (for more lube) for just about all my cleaning applications. Just my preference.

I was just about to ask about contact cleaners. How would you apply the spray to an amp's power switch? I hope I don't have to take it apart.

Toggle, push button, etc?

What is the switch doing (or not doing)?

Put the amp with the switch bat up and spray from the outside where the bat go in the switch . move at less 10 time . Amp unplug from the wall outlet .

Nothing more can be done if you open the amp and remove the switch . Switch is sealed.

+1 !

A Power Switch is either working or not.

Unlike a Volume or Tone Pot where dirt can build up and cause 'scratching' when turning, a Power Switch either completes the circuit or it doesn't.

If it doesn't, it's unlikely because of dirt build-up. Either the contacts are worn or broken in which case a cleaner won't fix it. Replacement is the solution.

cheers!

It's an older Peavey bass amp. The switch is really touchy. Sometimes, you have to push inward while flipping it on, and sometimes that doesn't work..and you have to maneuver the switch in between on and off so it powers up. Then, you have to gently flip it into the "on" position. It always ends up working, though.

I really like the thing..and don't want to mess it up.

The contact cleaner worked! I bought some brand called CRC, and sprayed it twice. Had to lay it face down the second time for it to work.
Thanks Fender Lounge.
