I've had my strat put away for a couple of years. I've bought a couple of squiers that I have been playing. I got into a band in August and the first few jams I was using my Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster. It sounded awesome and felt awesome. I wanted to get the strat out, so I changed the strings and did a set up. I used it at 2 jams. The first I thought I was just getting re-aquainted with it, because it didn't feel the same as the JM. I decided to try it out one more time and it just isn't cutting it. I am not changing the pickups because I bought it for single coils. I've got other guitars with humbuckers in them. This guitar just doesn't happen to be the guitar for me to use right now. When I was in a 3 piece, this guitar was fine, but with a 2 guitar band, it just doesn't seem to be working. P90's are working! What I really want to do is get the frets on my tele looked at, and bring that back into the mix. I've got a SD 'lil 59 stacked humbucker in the bridge, so I know that one will make the cut.
I was just jonesin' for my strat, but it failed to deliver.

Might be as easy as changing to another brand of strings. I wasn't happy with my strat for awhile, and somebody reccommended to me, DR brand "Pure Blues" strings. What a differance.
