The Peavey amp you have is a great little combo...but with the five hundred you have..I suggest finding a second hand all tube combo amp of some kind, with at least 50watts of juice(Peavey, Fender, etc.). That Guild you have..you need to play it at all times, establish a "look" with the thing. I've never seen another player with one..and it's a great looking guitar with some real mojo. Stick with the goods.

Carl always did love his Peavey T-60, big heavy guitar with lots of switch options. I love mine, too.

And my T-30...

And the cute little T-15...

But this is the one I play a lot more... '94 Peavey Predator with a few pickup mods.

There are probably a million guitars out there for under $500 and plenty of them are oddballs.

I always wanted a sunburst T45 Peavey bass. I don't think today's economy would allow one to be affordable, like they were back in the day. They used some of the nicest ash wood I've ever seen on that Peavey line.

Is that a Westone? That's another guitar that would cost big bucks to make in today's world.

My Hondo 1980 M-16 is kinda oddball...DiMarzio 'buckers, Kahler bridge/trem, Grovers and setneck with all the extras. I heard they only made 300 to promote the Rambo flicks...200 in camo, and 100 in black :

The Yamaha SSC & SHB guitars... the SSC is a little more common than the SHB but both are relatively scarce, generally affordable, and they're both awesome guitars for the $$$.

I'm thinking that a 3 string cigar box might suit your style. I just bought one on ebay.
They're tuned GDG , ADA etc. this should really suit your power chord mentality.
You can get a huge sound on these things, depending on the pickups used. They also have great access to the higher frets. Check out you tube. I'm sure Punk would be possible. I haven't got mine yet but here's the pics.

I was going to suggest one of those old Supro/Airline 'what the hell is that' looking guitars. I felt the same about them 50+ years ago as I do today.

One sold on eBay back in August for $499.

I have no doubt that Perkins was one of Harrison's influences. The irony of it all that they both succumbed to throat cancer.
