As do I. First thing I do when receiving a new amp is check the tightness of the fasteners. Always a good idea.

It's great to see Fender reissue another batch of iconic amps.A lot of gear snobs put down the silver-face models as being inferior because they don't sound like their black-face predecessors and consequently they equate this as not sounding as good.Granted thyey sound quite different from the black face models but they were a great sounding range of amps none the less.I have a '68 Bassman and that is an incredibly wonderful guitar amp and just perfect for blues and classic rock, especially when I run it through my '67 "driprail" 2-15 Bassman cabinet.I'm glad that they have brought out these excellent combo amps but if they brought out the Bassman from the same model year they would be doing bass and guitar players both a great service.
BTW:Paul McCartney and Wings filled their back line with silver face Bassmans for their first worldwide tour and we all know how great that sounded.

Saw some favorable conversation on the Gear Page. Subject NAD: Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb.

Why would Fender reproduce an amp that's considered one of the worst they ever made??? There are a million original Silvervface amps that still sound good or can be restored for a lot less than a new silverface re-issue. Stick to the Blackface amps and get rid of the circuit boards.

Worst .... I don't know. But I agree, one can get an original SF for the same money. Or even less. But then you really have an amp without PCB.

Cheers

David

David, have to agree with you 100% I owned a SF Bassman for years and it was a fine amp. Have to also agree on price... Hard to justify a new one when you can get an original for about the same price or less. I'm not a PCB hater, either. But, with PTP, you can always get work done on the amp!

For those who crave for a VM '68 Custom Bassman head, Fender has no plans for making one as such a head implies the need for a matching cab and a period-correct re-issue enclosure would be the 39" x 29" x 11.5" big box, an unduly large-and-sonically-mediocre piece of gear that nobody wants to lug around.

They made the 65 Deluxe in a head format and didn't put out a cab for it. Not all that expensive to have a period correct cab built that DOES sound good.

I think the best way to get an honest review would be for Brad to send one to me to test drive. But on second thought, maybe Brad should send me one of each model. I'll give them back when I'm done.... honest I will.

I fell in love with the '68 Custom Reissue amps!

I'm going to get one for use with my electric 12 string. Which one is the cleanest?

Thank you,

I was drooling after the SF Twin Reissue a lot, but my concerns are about the size and weight of that beast.

Someone suggested me a Princeton: I don't really know the differences between Twin and Princeton preamps. I was searching for a glassy, chimney tone that I could match with a compressor on front af the amp(I have a JangleBox Byrds limited). Sure, i can go well with a solid state amp like the Roland JC-120 that seems the standard for the 12-string sound, but I like the warmth of tubes and the aesthetics of the "alu-trim" amps more :D
