The ’68 Custom Twin Reverb®

Hi all,

If you haven't seen the latest additions to Fender's Vintage Modified series of amplifiers, be sure to check out our brand-new ’68 Custom models — the ’68 Custom Twin Reverb®, ’68 Custom Princeton Reverb® and ’68 Custom Deluxe Reverb®! With a look that draws upon the classic "silverface" look of the late 1960s — silver-and-turquoise front panels and aluminum "drip edge" grille cloth trim — and a bounty of upgraded features, they're perfect for the modern player looking to bolster that traditional Fender tone.

’68 Custom amps still have that big tube tone of their predecessors, but added features such as quicker gain onset, reduced negative feedback and enhanced tone circuitry make them even better suited to performers today. And they're all equipped with new Celestion speakers that offer even more aggressive, modern tone.

Let us know what you think. Thanks again, everyone!

Having reverb and tremolo on both channels is a good bonus.

Any plans for a '68 Custom Super Reverb?

Why would Fender reproduce an amp that's considered one of the worst they ever made??? There are a million original Silvervface amps that still sound good or can be restored for a lot less than a new silverface re-issue. Stick to the Blackface amps and get rid of the circuit boards.

Worst .... I don't know. But I agree, one can get an original SF for the same money. Or even less. But then you really have an amp without PCB.

Cheers

It was a transition model with that weird fixed/cathode biased circuit. Everyone blackfaced them. It's just a strange amp to re-issue, unless it was for cosmetic reasons.

You should thank Fender for not reissuing those infamous ultralinear master volume silverfaced amps with that crappy pull-out boost feature!

I just don't get what's up with trying to make old amps with new features. Either make old amps, or new amps with new features.

Or, to put it another way, if Fender made cars, they'd come out with a '57 Plymouth Belvedere "Christine", but with an 8-speed transmission and run-flat tires. The mind boggles.

Old Fender designs out of new materials are guitar players dreams come true. Were my pockets deeper I'd get one of each and custom shop one or two more lol.

I have yet to see one negative review for these amps. Everything I have read has been positive (so far). Where are these negative reviews you're seeing? Please provide links/sources (other than from this forum).
