Ditto. Fedex says expect arrival on Friday. This is an interesting piece of Fender history. In our 6 years of this Forum, its the first we've heard of.

It's here safe and sound. Been carrying on a bit more about it on the ...'red torino strat' thread. Will have it set up on Tuesday by a serious tech/luthier in the area. It's in lovely condition. Neck is a 7.25r/21 fretter with not as prominent a v/taper as the production model. More closely resembles the neck on my Glimour and '57VHR though the latter has a 9.5r. You can compare and contrast specs on the website. If you PM me with a direct email address I'll be happy send you the eBay file which has all the ins and outs.

Didn't stay that way, though. This was a prototype. On Eric's direction the final specs morphed into what is the current Clapton...no mode switch, a sleeker, more tapered v-neck carve, 22 frets and a 9.5r as opposed to 7.25r board.

Thanks. Just found a glitch in the circuitry. The pots don't function when the MDX mode switch is in the off-position but signal gets through. Gonna have my tech check it out.

My tech is an experienced dude both in the area of repairs, guitar building, and as a journeyman musician. Still has regular gig at a blues club in the area. Plays more slide nowadays due to a hand injury.

The neck on this guitar has a slightly different feel from the final form. It's a 7.25r with less of a v-taper, but not as round as the '57V [for vintage] neck on my Gilmour which is essentially a C-type neck with thin shoulders, unlike the modern C which is more rolled. The boost circuit is essentially the same in effect, but has the mode switch which actually allows you to cut it in when soloing, a feature which could be of convenience to some. Clapton didn't want that. He wanted the guitar active all the time. I suppose its a different circumstance when you've got the sound board controlling your EQ.
