I'm new on here, so this is kind of a "test" reply for me.

I agree with the fact that if you DO modify the guitar...plan to keep it, because (for the most part) it will only be worth it to YOU for the time, effort, and cost.

That said; I love to modify lower end guitars (to a point), and also understand the risk I take on possible re-sale or trade values.
I put a $200.00 Bigsby bridge/tail piece on a $230.00 Squire Standard Tele...and I absolutely know I would never (unless the right person came along) get $430.00 out of it (not to mention my time and hard work)---but I have fun with it. I love the looks of it. I love the fact that it is a solid body guitar that sounds like a semi-hollow.

I guess I am just saying it's all about what you like and like to do. I say go for it. There are a lot of well known professional musicians that use and even prefer Squire guitars.
