The special push/pull pickup selector switch on the American Special Mustang is just one of these features, allowing you to split the two full-throated Atomic humbucking pickups and achieve pure single-coil tone.

I think this feature is much better and more user-friendly than the dreaded S1 system. Fender should adopt that push-pull switch on their American and Mexican Deluxe series, IMO.

Dreaded? By whom? I use the S1 switch all the time, and I love it.
The push/pull on a different brand guitar I have, I am less pleased with. I have hit it with my elbow more than once, and it gives a loud "POP" when it switches over, unlike the S1.

Oh, just a mere question of taste, no else matters.

There are people who prefer the push-pull over the S1.

That was the first mod I did to my Deluxe was to remove the S-1.

Doesnt the Jazzmaster seem to have the regular headstock though?

The Jazzmaster headstock is somewhere between a vintage Strat and the large headstock. I believe that there's a very slight overcontour of today's Strat headstock compared to those made in the late 50's.

"Have you check out our new.........?"

Give me a break!!!!!! Hey Brad!! Guess when we might ever begin to HOPE seeing one of those guitars locally, IF, and only IF, the guitar buyer chooses to order same. I haven't seen a new American Vintage YET!!

Go into your local favorite 'where you buy your gear' store and ask to see one of these guitars. Money says the response will be "Say whut!?!?!? "It's 'NAMM', man". ["Not Available Maybe May."].

Most of the high end guitars I see on the wall, at my local Guitar Centers and Sam Ash's are either Les Pauls, or PRS's. Few, if any, Fenders at the same price point. Most of those are either MIM or Asian. Very disappointing, but its apparently that at which the greater percentage of the customer base is shopping Fender. You can also judge that from the NGD postings:?

Sad but true. I could own 6 of them for what I have in my two real American Fenders.
I am going to get another American Special Stratocaster in 3 tone sunburst I think. This will be a huge step for me not buying Black.

Hate to admit how long ago I got the idea for an HH Jazzmaster with a hardtail bridge. Saved myself a bundle by not having the Custom Shop build it for me. I just don't care for the necks on these guitars.

The "humbuckers" on the Jazzmaster look like P-90s to me.

Wonder if that was a design decision to keep it looking like an original Jazzmaster but putting humbuckers in instead.

Or is it a typo?

I seriously cannot stand the weird bolded font on the new headstock models. Please start making the old types of headstocks on all of your guitars Fender!
