Hi Mike! Yes I've been enjoying my 63 years on the planet, had some good days too.
It gets even better today because I treated myself to a.....well not so small present. Yup I am at this very moment awaiting delivery of a Rickenbacker 330 Jetglo. Woah! Yes!
Back in the early 60's I was a big fan of the Who and I loved the wonderful things Pete Townshend did with his Ricky and I always wanted one and it's only taken me 50 years to get one. ha.
Okay I know he played the Fireglo but I do like the black ones and John Lennon played a black un anyway. I've never played one of these and I don't recall ever even holding one before but I'll have fun figuring it out and doing the compulsory windmill slashes.
My collection is getting quite varied now, I have my Fenders and am now branching out into other brands, I'll be looking at a Gretsch next, I love the sounds Brian Setzer is putting out. Great guitarist!
So continue to celebrate my friend and I hope you got some goodies yourself. :D :D
Take care. 8)

You'll need a couple of Vox Super Beatles too......

Like I'm not so totally jealous :?:  Been keeping my eyes open for those. How did you score it? BTW: The first 330 I ever saw was in the hands of James Burton on an episode of 'Ozzie and Harriet', more years ago than I care to remember. [I doubt he was using a Vox amp of any kind back then. Being in California, I'd bet on Fender. ]My 'what the hell is that!?!' was answered by Henry down at Manny's Music on 48th Street. That guitar was about as far out of my pocketbook then as the new '58 Strat.

Very cool, Rhumba!

I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I'm looking at a
Korg Krome synth/keyboard. I have an older X-50, but their
Krome is an amazing workstation. It has 2 arpeggiators
that can run in combination or sequencer mode.

I had a Gretsch Tennessee Rose, but just never bonded with the awkward (to me) feel of the top heaviness of it.

Don't forget to ask for those senior performer discounts!

My reply as vanished, I'll have to do it again.

Same here. Some kind of technical glitch on their web.

You're talking 330's, but the one I'd most like to see again was the 330 Capri. I prefer the shape of that guitar. That's the one I'd like to have. It's too bad they don't do an RI of it.

Thanks Derek and no worries...just another year gone by...and the world keeps on ticking without skipping a beat.

I thought there would be a John Lennon thread today...I keep seeing the same old topics get bumped though.

John Lennon R.I.P. and Happy Birthday wherever you are...

Hi Doc, the guitar arrived and it's all that I imagined it would be, very punchy on the crash chords and nearly as much twang as my Telecaster, only had about 20 mins. on it yet but I'm very pleased. A different kind of sound for my arsenal.
However, I am interested in this Capri you mention. I haven't googled anything, I'm trying to rely on memory but if it's the one I remember, I saw some bands over here back in the 70's using a Rickenbacker that was shaped liked a 'Lyre' or a 'Harp' something like that.
If that's the one I haven't seen one of those for years, maybe collecters items now, although there may be some around somewhere. I prefer their standard lines myself but whatever your fancy is okay.
Take care Doc, it's been great to hear from ya. 8)

And Mike R.I.P. John Lennon from here as well.

The contours of the Capri are a bit leaner than the current 330. You can certainly do a review on Google. You'll find them on eBay. It's not the Lennon guitar. His was a Capri but a solid body and numbered 325 I believe. Warning....they are priced out of sight!!!

Right Doc, yes I've seen them now on eBay and wow! £7,500.00 they really are collecters items. Like you say just slightly different to the current 330. Great stuff.
The one I was thinking of was a Danelectro I believe now, they were weird looking things. Certainly not something I would want. :D
