Today I brought my old 1962 Hagstrom Corvette up from the music room for the first time in many months. After all this time it was just a little out of tune on just 2 strings. The old Corvette is a one piece neck through body mahogany guitar with a double cutaway and a strange bulge on the lower treble bout to accommodate the various switches, slides etc. that function as the volume, tone, pickup controls. The guitar has 3 Stratlike single coil pickups that sound very Strat like.I plugged the old girl into my latest amp-the AC-15 and was blown away by how sweet and full it sounded-very very L-series Strat sounding but somewhat fatter. The tone was just captivating and with the neck and middle pups engaged Jimi's "Angel" sounded just incredible with some lush reverb and just a touch of medium speed tremolo.I then got a bit brave and tried "Spanish Castle Magic" and it really sounded heavy-tomorrow I'm going to run the guitar through the old Marshall 1st edition Guv'nor to get some righteous raunch to it.I'm not surprised that she sounds so incredible, since I found out that the original owner had paid $750 in 1962 while in Sweden on a business trip.Considering that a Strat and a Tele were about $300 at that time,it's no small wonder that the Hagstrom was so far ahead of its time in design and sound..

BTW: The Hagstrom necks of that era were just about the thinnest necks ever made for a guitar and they still hold that distinction. The tiny neck and extremely close action is well suited for my aching hands and the old girl is going to be my go to guitar for some time to come.

Pics of all my gear were posted a while back but since I'm completely void of any computer skills I don't know how to access them. They were posted in the forum but I even forget the heading that I used, but they are still there as someone found them and posted them just a couple of months ago. They should all be there except for my new Ibanez Artcore.

That is a sweet looking plank! Swedish, is it?

Lots of buttons, though - it'd confuse old me :)
