I just bought a Squier Bullet Strat, of course I modified it by buying some zebra humbuckers making it a HSH.
The zebras only cost me some $20 online, I do enjoy thumbing my nose at the expensive products when cheap ones will do the job.
I enjoy humbuckers as long as I have adjustable pole pieces, its not the sound, its just that uneven strong volume drives me up the wall.
I fully expect to make it my main guitar, it sounds good, it was cheap, a good Strat will always do the job, good as a comfortable, well-designed guitar that won't disappoint.

Well, if you are satisfied with an ultra cheap guitar, that's all that matters. Thumb your nose and enjoy.

Nothing wrong with Squiers. I have my share of them. Most recently I've purchased 3 Squier Affinitys.

The reason being, I purchased one a while back that had crazy good pickups in it. So I set out to buy another one of the same year and country if origin. The next one that came wasn't quite the same. A couple of the pickups sounded more lifeless. So I tried my luck one more time. The 3rd one was exactly like the first. So much flavor in it, it's undeniable.

Each guitar set me back a whopping $60-65.. So it was very much worth it to me considering how much you might pay for aftermarket pickups individually.

The Squiers I'm talking about are 2000 Indonesian Affinitys. Amazing what they offered for pickups in those guitars. Not so amazing as far as consistency though. It's a crap-shoot. The necks feel nice, but you'd have to be willing to tolerate the 70s headstocks. I'll be putting a MIM neck on the newest one. Should be pretty sweet when it's done.

Congrats, have fun with your new guitar.

Congrats on your new guitar,Squiers can be really great guitars,I bought a Squier Tele for a gifted cousin of mine and it sounds huge-he hardly puts it down long enough to eat and sleep. You have the makings of a first rate main guitar and the beauty of it is that you didn't have to break the bank-that's a win-win in my book.

+1

I've done the same thing for someone, and he isn't bothered at all by what make it is. A year or two since then and he's made amazing strides, all on that one guitar.
