I kid you not. I thought the Forum could use a little levity today, so lets bash this ebay listing. He says he's selling it for a lot less than it's worth. It's lucky he told me that, because I was completely ignorant. He didn't mention if the tone is fantastic or not.

I love the whole..."I am selling it for much less than it's worth" in the ad. WOW talk about hyperbole!

This one is a better investment. It has all the lettering intact, only $439.00

This one is a better buy @ $62.00 It pays to shop around.

I'll have a dig through my pick collection and see if I've got one of these.

Order a dozen and pass them out at Christmas time as stocking stuffers.

They don't seem all that rare.

Wow!
You save: $517.50

In one sense things are worth what someone will pay for them.
But it won't be me who pays that much.
Although there are collectors that might--maybe--if they don't see the cheaper ones.

So true. I was at a concert, the guitar player threw a pick into the audience. My friend next to me almost caught the pick, but it fell to the floor and we couldn't find it. Seeing the disappointment on his face, I reached into my pocket, pulled out a pick and pretended to pick it up off of the floor. I said "here it is" and gave it to my friend, and his face lit up as if he had found a treasure. He still talks about having a pick used by this famous guitar player. I guess that I am somewhat of a famous guy, and a guitar player, but not the one that my friend thinks had this pick.

wow I hope nobody actually pays big bucks for these. Do they at least come with 'Slash tone'? Or perhaps 'Les tone'?

I'm surprised that the audiophile quacks haven't homed in on the pick market yet. Hmm, perhaps there's an opportunity here...

Through our unique string theory process, the AR-TH-1 pick recharger will excite the p-branes, opening up the tone color to a new level. This will work with any pick; simply place the pick in the recharger over night for a complete revitalization of the sound picture. The sound will be indiscernible from live music, guaranteed.
For a limited time, only $972.50. Pick not included.

And we are on the way there.
Ever seen the site for Red Bear picks?
and others like them?

Red Bear picks are great. Most of the hype with high-tech/high-end picks is about grip and their similarity to real tortoise shell. The next best thing to / better than real TS. You pay a bit more for these picks and tend to look after them more.

This Les Paul pick however is just a brittle little piece of plastic with sentimental value for some fanatic who must have all the period correct case candy.
