Think i'll just keep ploughing away on worn out frets!

Unless you have a Custom Shop, Select or vintage model, you can always buy a new neck/fretboard if refretting doesn't work out well. Yeah, extra money, but at least it's an option.

Good idea actually that. I hate getting any fretwork done. My Tele's just a USA standard maple neck model so it's nothing fancy!

I've never had any fret work done before, so that is a concern of mine. Its been so long that I have played this guitar for more than a few minutes I wonder if I'd even notice if it was different.
How long could a person go before they HAVE TO do fret work?

When fretted notes start sounding flat and fret-buzz becomes audible.

So judging from the pictures alone, would you say I should do this now, or keep on playing it? The first few frets are worn the most.

Frankly, the guitar looks like it's ready for a total re-fret IMO.

It can lead to buzz if it gets bad enough, yes, but so can decreased action (like e.g. a worn nut) or tired strings, so that's not a reliable indicator in itself.
As for notes sounding flat, that's incorrect. When frets wear down, notes sound sharp, not flat. The physics is pretty simple: you both have to press the string further, and the edge of a worn fret is closer to the bridge than on a fresh fret, both of which makes the tone sharper.

I'd say that the time to dress the frets is when bending scrapes against the fret instead of sliding smoothly, or you get ringing from any of the harmonic frets when playing on lower numbered frets.

What about playing a fretless guitar? would it work? it would feel really weird! I ask because of all the guys that play fretless bass. I mean what's the difference? :P

fretless guitars are nearly pointless, because chords become impossible to keep in tune. If you want to hear an example, check out RHCP's Blood Sugar Sex Magic. I forget what track but Frusciante used a fretless guitar on that album.

It could be said that you need a fretless to get chords in tune - what you play on frets are approximations. This is one of the reasons why guitar players play so many fifths - it's less than two cents off from the 3:2 ratio, and rings much purer to the ear - all other intervals are more out of tune compared to the pure harmonic.

Sure, fretless is harder to play, but it gives you advantages too, like portamento without bending. Cello players haven't started hammering frets into their instruments yet...

Saskabush is notorious for having not much to offer in the way of amp and guitar techs. There is a guy in Saskatoon who builds clones of old Fender amps. I'm not sure if he will also service your own amps or not. Unfortunately I know of no reliable guitar tech in Sask. There's one in Edmonchuck. Link below.

Avenue Guitars in Edm also supposedly does fret work but I don't know anybody who's tried them.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
