Has anyone noticed anything different about the music player (at least on iPhone 4)? I did - I was kind of waiting to see if anyone else noticed.

Yip. Completely different layout when changing orientation. But everything has changed so what do you find surprising about that music player precisely?

I play my phone every morning on the way to work, through a tape adapter to the car tape deck. The EQ is different on the music player, noticeably more bass and it sounds different overall. Anyone else?

My general consensus is that Apple sucks and all of its products are severely outperformed by their competitors in whatever category (phone, tablet), yet they still dominate the market because SWPLs (google it) (aka hipsters) are sheep.

For example, the Kindle Fire HD blows away the iPad in every category, yet the iPad gets 70% of the market. Amazon just released a new Kindle Fire that widens the gap--much better resolution, faster, better speakers if you happen to use them, better sound card for music, everything better. Yet the SWPLs will keep pumping Apple for a few more years until Apple eventually declines and folds just as Blackberry did.

personally, the only reason I have an iPhone is because it was given to me for free. The only other Apple product I've ever had was a first gen iPod - which was a gift.

That being said, I have to say my iPhone 4 is a fantastic device, it's been 100% reliable and the functionality is great. Can't really say a bad thing about it in terms of performance, and that's coming from a loyal 'Microsoft guy'.

I'm really not sure what the Scottish Women's Premier League has to do with this, they certainly are not a large target audience for apple.

Mike I'm really well. Finally settled in the 9-5 bit and yep the band is functioning, sort of. It's like juggling flaming cats, but we actually manage to do some things now.

Been getting a lot of repair work in to keep me busy. I'm currently working on a 1971 1959SLP. About as close as I'm ever going to come to that classic Are You Experienced sound. Which is nice, but loud. But nice, and the Noise Abatement Society seem to have a lot of things to say to, me since it's been here. I think they're going to ask me to boost the mids a bit, I dunno.

New album out, really pleased with the songs. Far more melodic, far more structured than the 82 style stuff we used to do last time I was in the band. I haven't heard it yet. The singer is keeping it really close to his chest. But hopefully I'll be able to post something from it soon.
Moved on to Les Paul Juniors. Got a doozy from Ebay. One of 5 Double Cuts made for the release of the film Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging. Never been happier with my sound. All the attack of a good Telecaster with the thick Gibson sound.

As for phones, I think the current ship has sailed me by. I'm still using the Iphone 4 I had years ago. The most I do is take pictures and post em to Facebook with it.
I did however get a good deal on a pad not long back. Asda (owned by Wallmart) selling these Prestigio things for £70. Though it hasn't solved the problem that I still don't know what to do with it.
Maybe use it as an interface for my Zoom and record onto it, I dunno.

Agreed ... supposedly critics were harping on the dated look of iOS ... presumably compared to Droid and Windows tablet look. Give 'em a bone ... smart business. All of the key changes I've been reading about for months are internal and most sound very useful.

But I'm waiting the usual 3 weeks or so from release. There've been reports of overloaded servers and broken downloads (not surprising). And there are certain to be some critical bugs that will be found and fixed early on. Even the best QA team in the world can't break software like a bunch of real world users can. As with any new release, I always allow the public a few weeks to debug ... they rarely disappoint :)

Geez, your attack on Apple makes you sound like your an Apple Wannabe but can't be, so now you are messed up about it. Generally when someone doesn't like a product they simply don't buy it and don't care for it. But all these Android lovers that have such a hatred towards Apple must be close to sitting on the fence, and are trying hard to justify their choices.

There is a reason why people love Apple, it's because when Apple do something they do it really WELL, THOUGHTFULY and usaully do it FIRST. And Apple is not the most popular Phone/OS in the world, that title belongs to Android and Samsung - so who really is the sheep?

I am fine with your choices in devices, because you must buy what you need/want, but I am perfectly happy with my Apple products (which by the way I have been buying since before they were world popular). There will always be a better device on the market, otherwise we would see no progress in technology.

FWIW - the Kindle Fire HD is not as good with Kids content as an iPad is.

Well iOS needed an update, much like all operating systems do when the get old.

Speaking from experience working in a telco, I wouldn't go near an android. With galaxy being the flagship of Android, all they do is update software, add more processors, increase the scream size and market the hell out of it. I found them full of bugs and hardware quirks with relatively high return rates. But as far apps are concerned, developers are predominantly making them for apple first then android second. Windows have pretty much flopped with the revised version and blackberry still suck after their overhaul.

Tablets are the same. Kindle I think are ahead of the ebook game however the kindle fire is basically an android tablet with the native kindle app installed. I have the app on my iPad with the link to my account- all of my non-amazon ebooks are sent to my own email and saved to my iPad so I can still read them in kindle.

The most interesting part I found is that for predominantly Facebook, weather, camera and phone use- people will spend loads of money and demand high spec phones for very simple use.

For me, it's all about how well it works for me without literally tearing a hole in my pocket with a massive over-sized phone. Gone are the days of bulky basic phones when manufacturers made them smaller & smaller, now it's all about making them as big and expensive as possible whilst not making them unaffordable.

All this for Facebook, text and camera use. Yet, the lifespan on a top device is about 2.5years on average- Is it all smart spending, or are we just throwing money away?

Blertles you make some relevant points, I must say though that I went from my iPhone 3G to an iPhone5, so that makes it in the region of 5 years useful lifespan of my old Apple phone.

All sounds good for ya mate!
I still have an iPhone 4S and iOS 6 - the missus updated to iOS7 and claims she likes it - I'm holding off awhile, maybe a long long while.

Updated iPhone 5 and iPad 3 to iOS 7 last week, both went smoothly and I'm really enjoying the new features. Sure some of the 'flat look' takes getting used to, but overall it's much cleaner, easier to use, and key features are more accessible (like search, control panel, app changes). Haven't noticed much of a speed change either way.
